A fatal accident, during a relocation for the filming of a Netflix series set in Baja California, has ended in an unexpected tragedy.

Vehicle overturned

Two Mexican actors lost their lives after the vehicle in which they were traveling overturned, as reported by 'Deadline.'

It happened near Mulegé, a coastal municipality in Baja California, at the Gulf of California.

The two actors who lost their lives were Paco Mufote and Raymundo Garduño Cruz.

Paco Mufote

Actor and musician Juan Francisco González Aguilar was better known as Paco Mufote.

Musician Raymundo Garduño Cruz

Raymundo Garduño Cruz was also an actor and a musician. The LA Times reports that both artists were active in promoting the Tijuana art scene.

'The Chosen One'

Both were in the middle of filming the series 'El Elegido' (The Chosen One). It is based on the graphic novel 'Chosen' by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.

Six injured (but not critically)

The accident took place after one of the vehicles lost control and overturned, although its circumstances have not yet been clarified. Six other travelers had various injuries, but non of them critical, 'Deadline' reports.

Filming is halted

For now, the co-producer of the series, Redrum, has temporarily stopped filming. The funerals of the two victims have already been held.

Last photos shared

As fate would have it, hours before the accident, Ray Garduño shared a photo from the shoot with several colleagues on Instagram.

"At work in the desert and with the joy of colleagues," he wrote, translated from Spanish.

Relocating

Paco Mufote, also very active on social networks, did not share any words but he had posted a photograph in which he is seen preparing the cars with which they were going to travel.

Concern in ANDA

For now, the National Association of Actors of Mexico (ANDA) has lamented the accident and expressed concern about what happened.

'It's everyone's job to take care of both the actors, the crew, and the drivers'

"The circumstances hurt and worry us. We hope that the causes of the accident will be clarified soon and that responsibilities will be assumed," ANDA said in a statement. "It's everyone's job to take care of both the actors, the crew, and the drivers themselves in any production."

"Report possible negligence"

ANDA encourages crew and actors to "not incur in possible negligence," and also to "not ignore them and report them in case it happens."

Authorities are still investigating the accident

So far, it is not known what exactly happened and whether the accident could have been avoided. Be that as it may, Paco Mufote and Raymundo Garduño Cruz had the last happy day with their colleagues on that fateful 16th of June.
