Duke of Sussex talks about relationship with his wife

Prince Harry has denied rumours of an alleged divorce from Meghan Markle, according to People. During an event in New York City, he was interviewed by The New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin and addressed the online and media rumours of a breakup.

The ludicrous rumours

The prince prefers to take all the fake news circulating about his marriage with a pinch of salt. "Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, 'what?'" Prince Harry said with a laugh.

How he handles it

Harry explained that it is difficult to keep up to date with the amount of false things that circulate about him and his wife, so he has simply learned to ignore it.

Feels sorry for the gossipers

He did say, with some humor: "The people I feel most sorry about are the tr0lls... Their hopes are just built and built, and it's like, 'Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,' and then it [the divorce] doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do."

The Duke and Duchess's split diaries

Sorkin mentioned he looked up what the news was saying about the prince and noticed that individuals have been fixated on their agendas. "They're fascinated by Meghan [being] in California right now, and you're here," he said.

Unwanted attention

The columnist added that the fact that they are at separate events generates interest, which, he suggested, could be good for them. Harry, however, said he doesn't want this kind of attention. "It's definitely not a good thing," he said.

Harry anticipates new misrepresentations of his words

Harry also said he thought the conversation with the columnist would be a weapon used against him. The Prince stated the interview "will be spun or twisted somehow against me, and maybe you yourself will be trolled relentlessly." To the interviewer, he said: "For that, I can only apologize, but you did invite me, so it's not my fault."

The danger of fake news

Prince Harry warned the public about the danger of false information circulating. "I've had a lived experience since I was a kid. I've seen stories written about myself that aren't exactly based on reality," he said. "And I think when you grow up within that environment, you do find yourself questioning the validity of the information but also what other people are thinking of that as well, and how dangerous it can be over the course of time."

His life in the USA

But it wasn't all negativity in the conversation. The Duke of Sussex also spoke about his life in the United States, how much he enjoyed it, and how happy he was to have brought his children with him. He said that it's what his mother would have wanted for him.

Where is Meghan?

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle made an appearance at the Paley Fall Gala to support actor - and friend - Tyler Perry. According to People, the director was honoured with the gala's top award.

'Two places at once' strategy

The pair making two separate appearances in one night is part of a new dynamic the Duke and Duchess have adopted, according to People magazine.

Meghan for profit, Harry non-profit

A source revealed to the magazine, that this is part of 'twin-track approach': Meghan focuses on the entrepreneurial side and Harry on the non-profits. Meanwhile, they also make appearances together for shared projects.
