Ice cold: the harsh reason for Shannen Doherty's breakup

In the spring of 2023, actress Shannen Doherty and her husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, announced that they were getting divorced. Months after the news, Doherty reveals the harsh truth behind their breakup.

The world has been following the health problems of 'BH 90210' and 'Charmed' actress Shannen Doherty. She has opened up several times about the condition she's facing: b r e a s t cancer that, in recent months, has spread to the bones.

The actress, married to the photographer since 2011, has spoken for the first time about the reasons that led her to divorce her husband in April 2023. It's a painful story.

Sadly, the person who should have been her greatest support as she was facing her incurable illness, failed Shannen Doherty at a crucial moment. She talked about it in the 'Let's Be Clear' podcast.

According to what she says in the podcast, minutes before entering the operating room to undergo surgery for a brain tumor, in January 2023, Shannen Doherty found out that Kurt Iswarienko had been unfaithful to her.

"My husband had been carrying on an affair for two years," the actress reveals. She says she felt "so betrayed."

Doherty was so angry and hurt that she did not allow Iswarienko to accompany her to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where the operation was performed.

"At the end of the day," Doherty recounts in the podcast, "I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart."

Between January and April 2023, the actress was "very confused" due to the steroids and the effects of the operation on her brain. However, by April, she was ready to end things with Kurt.

Her delicate condition after the operation did not deter Shannen Doherty from trying to get the whole truth about her husband's affair.

She even contacted the woman Kurt Iswarienko had been seeing for the past two years.

Curiously, the actress thinks she is partly to blame for the love triangle.

"I take responsibility," she says in the podcast, "not only because of how I was but because of how cancer impacted my marriage and how it impacted him the second time around."

And this is how Shannen Doherty ended her third marriage. Previously, she had been married to Ashley Hamilton (1993-1994) and Rick Salomon (2002-2003), two marriages that lasted a lot less time than her union with Kurt Iswarienko.

She says in the podcast that, for most of 2023, she has been closed off to any new relationships. In the last weeks of the year, however, this has begun to change.

"I’m pretty sure I’ll meet somebody — hopefully soon," she predicted in her interview.
