Michael Bolton's emergency surgery: a brain tumor

American singer Michael Bolton, known for, among others, the hit 'How Am I Supposed to Live Without You', was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent emergency surgery.

Although the procedure went well, the singer reported through his Instagram account that he has to suspend his tour to fully recover.

"Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family."

"For the next couple of months, I will be devoting my time and energy to recovering, which means I'll have to take a temporary break from touring," Bolton explained in the statement.

The 70-year-old singer was about to start a tour in February. In 2023, he released the albums 'Spark of Light' and 'Christmas Time'.

In his statement, Bolton wished all his followers a happy and healthy New Year. He then spoke of how 2023 ended for him by giving him some unexpected challenges.

"Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required emergency surgery," the singer said.

The singer, whose career spans decades, finds it difficult to stop performing - even though it is necessary for his recovery.

"It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon."

"I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB," the singer concluded.

Bolton rose to fame in the 1980s and has remained relevant through the years. He was initially known for his long hair and raspy voice, with which he sang romantic ballads.

Some of his best-known songs are the covers 'When a Man Loves a Woman' and '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay', as well as his own songs 'How Am I Supposed To Live Without You' and 'I Found Someone'.

In fact, the song 'I Found Someone' he wrote for Laura Branigan (known for the hit 'Gloria'), just like 'How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.'

While Laura Branigan didn't score a hit with 'I Found Someone,' Cher later would.

Of course, throughout his career, Bolton managed to win multiple awards, including 2 Grammys.

The singer has the affection and recognition of thousands of people. Despite his age and recent health scare, they hope that he can soon recover and return to the stage.
