The surprising news of a Marvel baby, fathered by UK actor Josh Bowman
Two actresses from the Marvel universe have unexpectedly become mothers. They gave zero hints about their expectancy of a new family member before it was born.
The first of the two was superstar Scarlett Johansson.
A few weeks ago, the surprising news came from Marvel's Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson. She and comedian Colin Jost had become the parents of a baby boy. It was a big surprise, because no one in the media or general public had known the baby was coming.
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost chose an unusual name for their son: Cosmo. The news of Johansson being a mom was soon followed by a wave of surprise about the interesting name. Did it come from Seinfeld character Cosmo Kramer? Or was it based on the comic figures Cosmo and Wanda?
As it turns out, Scarlett Johansson is not the only member of the Marvel universe to have secretly expanded their family. There's another Marvel actress who just became a mom, to everyone's surprise. Who is it?
Emily VanCamp, who plays Sharon Carter / Agent 13 in two 'Captain America' movies and the 2021 series 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier', has also just become a mother.
Emily VanCamp announced the happy news of her recent motherhood in late August 2021. It's an adventure that she shares with her husband, Josh Bowman, who's also an actor. The couple met during the filming of the hit series 'Revenge'.
The two actors have become parents of a girl named Iris. The baby's name plus photos of the little girl and a pregnant Emily VanCamp were shared on Instagram by the actress herself. She only showed her baby belly for the first time after the news of her daughter's birth had already been announced.

Before Iris was born, Emily VanCamp nor Josh Bowman had shared even the slightest clue or image that might give away Emily's pregnant state. They kept it a secret, although some media alluded to indications that they might be expecting.
Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman began a quiet relationship in January 2012 while they were filming the ABC series 'Revenge'.
They were a couple both in the series and off the screen. Six years after they started dating, the two actors sealed their love with a wedding. On December 15, 2018, they got married.
Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman's wedding took place in the Bahamas and their honeymoon in Miami. After marking that milestone, they now make a new step in their relationship with the birth of little Iris.

The news of the baby's arrival coincides with the upcoming release of season 5 of 'The Resident', a medical drama with Emily VanCamp as one of its protagonists. The first episode of that season airs on Fox on September 21.
Apart from 'The Resident', the actress has also appeared in the successful Disney+ series 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'. Fans of the series are anxiously hoping for a second season that has not yet been confirmed.
For his part, the Englishman Josh Bowman has maintained a more discreet profile in the world of movies and TV. He hasn't had big roles since his successful stint on 'Revenge'.
Bowman appeared in an episode of 'Doctor Who,' among others, and most recently he played in the BBC One series 'Our Girl.'
A promising show with Bowman as a main star was the ABC series 'Time after Time,' about the early life of English writer H.G. Wells. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled after one season.
These shows also didn't make it past one or two seasons - but they're still worth a watch!
Whatever happens in their professional careers, though, nothing will be as impactful as becoming a parent. It's yet another big surprise in Hollywood circles.
