Stars who regretted their plastic surgeries
We all know it's pretty normal to see stars in Hollywood investing in their appearance and going under the knife. What is less common, however, is owning up to cosmetic mistakes, especially when you are a well-known face. There are many celebrities who have publicly expressed the feeling of regret after surgery.
Nicole Kidman's face has undeniably become less expressive over the years. As she has said in numerous interviews with the international media: “I did try Botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again.”
"No surgery for me," said Kidman, "I wear sunscreen, I don't smoke and I take care of myself, and I am proud to say that." She also removed her breast implants in 2016, for fear of having toxic substances in her body.
Gwyneth Paltrow also resorted to botulinum toxin in the past, but from what she hinted in an interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, she wasn't entirely happy with her face at the time. "...I won't do Botox again, because I looked crazy." she said.
Kim Kardashian also regretted resorting to Botox. She said on the reality show she stars in, 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians', that it was not an "age-appropriate" treatment.
Kylie Jenner's problem was with lip injections. "Well, I definitely made my lips a little too big at one point." the entrepreneur told her sister Kim Kardashian in a 2016 interview with Allure magazine. She also said, "I have temporary lip fillers, it's just an insecurity of mine and it's what I wanted to do."
Even the stunning Cameron Diaz admitted to trying Botox: "I've tried [Botox] before, where it was like [a] little tiny touch of something," she told Entertainment Tonight in 2014.
"It changed my face in such a weird way that I was like, 'No, I don't want to [be] like [that]' … I'd rather see my face aging than a face that doesn't belong to me at all."
Actress Tara Reid, who audiences will mostly remember for her performance in the 'American Pie' films, told US Weekly in 2010 that, after liposuction, “My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing... I had a hernia, this huge bump next to my bellybutton."
This bulge directly affected her work. "As a result, I couldn’t wear a bikini. I lost a lot of work." It was six years before she was seen in a swimming costume again. Unfortunately, Too long for Hollywood (which so unfairly demands perfection from its actresses) to wait for you.
The actress confessed on her Instagram account how, at the age of 35, she removed her breast implants. The reason, as she herself said, was the possible consequences of the implants.
"Over the years I have dealt with minor health issues (gut, food sensitivities, mercury poisoning...) that left me confused and lost, and met with countless holistic and traditional doctors and practitioners in search of answers... Non-toxic living is SO important to me and I’m so excited to let you in on what I’ve learned so far," she said.
Courteney Cox, world-famous for her role as Monica Geller in the beloved series 'Friends', has been showing a change in her physical appearance due to facial fillers over the years.
As she admitted to New Beauty magazine in 2017, she has already left behind these retouches to achieve a more realistic image. "I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do," she said.
Gisele Bündchen had breast implants after having her two children, as she didn't feel comfortable with them. However, she was also unhappy with the operation "living in a body I didn't recognise", as she told People in an interview.
"And I should probably say, don’t mess with your boobs. All those years I denied it – stupid. A sign of insecurity. Just celebrate what you’ve got." wrote Victoria Beckham in a letter to her 18-year-old self published in Vogue UK.
Tori Spelling, daughter of famed producer Aaron Spelling, regretted her breast prostheses because of how it affected her offspring's upbringing.
It should be remembered that the actress is the mother of five children. She said so on 'Good Morning America'. And she finally had them removed in 2014 as she told in her reality show 'True Tori'.
Chrissy Teigen is another celebrity who has opted to remove her breast implants. "I'd like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! Don't worry about me! All good. I'll still have boobs, they'll just be pure fat."" she wrote on Instagram in May 2020.
The Kardashians' older sister is another star who regrets having undergone surgery. Or at least doing it at a very young age: “I had my boobs done but if I could go back, I wouldn’t have done it. I was so cute before. I’ve realized that I was made to look a certain way and I’m considering removing them,” the celebrity admitted to Showbizz Spy in 2011.
The 'Little House on the Prairie' actress removed her breast prostheses in 2015 and is determined to accept the ageing process without resorting to beauty treatments or surgery.
“No makeup, no filter, in jammies, sitting in a recliner. This is me finally happy in my own skin. No fillers or Botox, no implants, no hair color. Just me. Yes my joints are a bit stiffer, yes I don’t have the physical strength I once had, but I look at that as one of the gifts of aging. It forces me to slow down and be more mindful," she said on Instagram when she turned 57.
The legendary actress has undergone surgery on several occasions to, among other things, correct the shape of her eyes or her jaw, because she was tired of always looking 'tired'. Although she admits that she hates having to go under the knife to change her physique to feel good.
The American actress confessed in an interview with Porter that she didn't realise she had overdone it with cosmetic surgery until people started saying, "My God, what has she done?"
"I was so hurt I went to a different doctor and he started dissolving all of this s--t that this other woman doctor had put in. Hopefully, I look more normal now," she confessed.
Jamie Lee Curtis talked about her experience with cosmetic surgery on the People in the '90s podcast: ""I've had a little lipo(suction), I've had a little Botox ... And you know what? None of it works. And there is this illusion that once you do it then you'll be fine... I looked worse. Worse."
In 2007, Kurt Cobain's former partner admitted that she regretted her lip augmentation operation.
Speaking about her experience of lip augmentation with Restylane, Jessica Simpson said in a 2008 interview that she did not like the result because it seemed "fake" to her. "I had that Restylane stuff," she told GLAMOUR. "It looked fake to me. I didn't like that. But… it went away in, like, four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God!" she told reporters.
The Puerto Rican Miss Universe, who won the famous beauty pageant in 2006, said in 2016 on a Telemundo show that she regretted having undergone several cosmetic surgeries. "If I hadn't had them done, I would have been just as successful," she said at the time.
