Laura Elena Harring Martínez, known artistically as Laura Harring, was born in Los Mochis (Mexico) in 1964. Her family moved to Texas at the age of 10, where she survived a shooting that left her with a head injury.

After studying at a Swiss boarding school, Harring won the titles of Miss El Paso, Miss Texas, and Miss USA, the first Latina to do so. At the age of 18, she married a descendant of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, earning the title of Countess, according to El Pais.

In 2022, Harring starred in the HBO Max film ‘Father of the Bride’. However, she announced her retirement from acting via social media, claiming to be at peace with her career and proud of her legacy.
