A new life for Armie Hammer
From Hollywood to the Cayman Islands

Actor Armie Hammer is back in the news for the premiere of a new series. It's not a glamorous affair, though: the movie is called 'House of Hammer' and reveals all the scandals in the actor's life.

Star of 'Call Me By Your Name'

In late 2020, the once immensely popular actor from 'Call Me By Your Name' (2017), 'Rebecca' (2020) and 'Death on the Nile' (2022), fell from grace in a way that he may never come back from.

Shocking messages came to light

His reputation blew up when several messages were leaked and published in the press that Hammer sent to women on Instagram. He spoke of masochistic and cannibalistic activities in those unsolicited messages.

He sounds like a cannibal

Among the messages was this one: "I am 100% cannibal. I want to eat you.... It's scary to admit it." Another said: " If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession?"

Explicit content

The list of disturbing messages was long and explicit. "...Thinking of holding your heart in my hand and controlling when it beats," was one of them.

Drinking blood

Hammer would add other remarks about eating his lover's ribs or drinking their blood. "Will you give it to me tomorrow?" he texted. "Do not forget that you are mine."

Complaints began to pour in

At some point in 2020, some of his ex-lovers began to speak out about his "aggressive, extravagant, drug addict and even anthropophagic tastes." Among them was Paige Lorenze, who claimed that he sent photos of her to his friends without her consent. She also said that he used a knife to mark her with the letter A, his initial.

Twisted fantasies

Another woman he dated, Courtney Vucekovich, recalled the "twisted fantasies" the actor had, which included "breaking and eating her ribs."

Effie Angelova and her complaint of abuse

The most prominent case was that of Effie Angelova, who publicly accused Armie Hammer of abuse. He had allegedly held her forcefully for four hours, to the point that she feared for her life.

Elizabeth Chambers convinced him to go into rehab

All this occurred while Hammer was married to Elizabeth Chambers and had two children with her. Chambers was appalled by the revelations and convinced Hammer to enter a specialized rehab clinic, Vanity Fair reported.

Support to 'any victim'

As Elizabeth Chambers posted on Instagram: "For weeks, I've been trying to process everything that has transpired. I am shocked… I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal."

Had to leave two projects suddenly

In January 2021, Armie Hammer promptly left two productions on which he was working. One was 'Shotgun Wedding', a comedy in which he would have starred with Jennifer Lopez. The other was a series about the creation of the movie 'The Godfather' (1972). Hammer would play the role of its producer, Al Ruddy.

Treated for his strange addictions

After leaving the two roles, he entered a center in Orlando to treat his strange addictions, in addition to his problems with illegal substances and alcohol. It took him almost a year. In December 2021, his lawyer told E! News that "Mr. Hammer has left the treatment facility and is doing great."

He disappeared for a while

After rehab, it seemed that Armie Hammer went off the grid. He was no longer welcome in Hollywood, nor with his now-ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers. So where was he? In the world of social media, the answer could not take long in arriving.

And then he was found...

As confirmed by Variety, Armie Hammer currently resides in the Cayman Islands. It's a place where he lived during his childhood, and it also gives him the opportunity to be close to his two children, Harper Grace and Ford Douglas Armand.

He's a Timeshare salesman!

Most surprisingly, Variety stated, was his daily occupation. Armie Hammer is now a timeshare salesman at the Morritt's resort in the Cayman Islands.

Tourists saw him at work

While Variety confirmed the news, tourists had already posted about it since June 2022. They reported having seen the former actor on posters where he appeared as a "personal assistant to guests." It initially led them to believe that he was working at the Morritt's as a concierge.

Serving his new customers

TMZ added to the story by publishing images in July 2022 that showed the former actor serving customers. He was wearing a blue outfit, the uniform of the Cayman Islands resort.

Ruined and looking for money

According to an anonymous source quoted by Variety, Hammer "is totally broke and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family."

Cayman Islands: back to his origins

With his 'escape' to the Cayman Islands, Armie Hammer returns to his origins, in a way. It was the place where his family moved to when he was 11. Hammer studied at the Grace Christian Academy, a religious center in the Cayman Islands which was founded by his father.

Wealthy family

Armie Hammer was born and raised in a wealthy family whose origins go back to his great-great-grandfather Julius Hammer a Ukrainian émigré who founded the New York Communist Party. Julius's son, Armand, became an oil tycoon - which is interesting considering his father was a communist - and thanks to the oil money, the Hammer family has always lived in abundance.

Hammer's father: a rich businessman

Armie Hammer's father is the businessman Michael Armand Hammer. He owns the production company Armand Hammer Productions. In the documentary 'House of Hammer,' relatives compare him to the media tycoon Logan Roy from 'Succession,' who terrorizes his children and plays them off against each other.

Hammer played the Winklevoss twins in 'The Social Network'

Armie Hammer, named after the other 'Armands' of his wealthy family, decided to go into showbiz. He was recognized for his role in the film 'The Social Network' (2021) where he played the twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. A suitable role for the offspring of a privileged family.

Big break with 'Call Me By Your Name'

'Call Me By Your Name,' an important film about summer love between two young men, launched Hammer to Hollywood stardom in 2017. His co-star, Timothée Chalamet, also became instantly famous.

But behind the screens, there were demons...

While bigger roles kept coming for Armie Hammer, behind the screens there was a man struggling with the demons of his past and his psyche. The documentary 'House of Hammer' shows how the toxic relationships in the wealthy Hammer family contributed to leading the actor into his current situation.

A new life for Armie Hammer

Today, the life of Armie Hammer has taken a 180-degree change. The scandal seems to have consequences for life, and now a documentary about his family is leaving all the remaining demons bare. Will he ever be rehabilitated or simply stay away from the spotlight?
