When we see celebrities on red carpets, dressed up and dapper in their fancy suits, we may think they've always been this glamorous, but these celebrities sure haven't! They all grew up on farms, milking cows, picking peanuts, and waking up when the rooster crowed. Take a look and see if you're surprised by who's on our list.

The actress Eva Longoria grew up on a ranch very close to Corpus Christi, TX. She led a modest life with her family, confessing that "I used to have to hunt for food. Now, I order it and they even bring it to the table," she has said in several interviews.

While actress Jennie Garth is famous for her character Kelly Taylor, who lived in 'Beverly Hills, 90210,' her actual childhood was very far from it. Garth spent much of her childhood on a horse ranch in Illinois. When she was 13, she and her family relocated to Glendale, Arizona, eventually making her way to Hollywood and then Beverly Hills.

Also surrounded by horses, the top model Miranda Kerr grew up on her grandmother's farm in Gunnedah, New South Wales, Australia. Kerr has confessed that she felt herself on the farm.

'Hannah Montana,' pushed Miley Cyrus to stardom, but she wasn't born in the actual spotlight. She grew up on a farm in Franklin, Tennessee, outside of Nashville. There is where she played in the fields with her very famous father, country music icon Bill Ray Cyrus.

Charlize Theron might appear to be the ultimate chic, city girl, but there is indeed another side to her, having spent her childhood on a farm outside of Johannesburg, South Africa. Theron fed and cared for cattle on her parent's farm in Benoni before making her move to the big city to pursue acting.

Another great diva who lived the rural life was the iconic Ava Gardner. Her parents owned a tobacco and cotton farm in Smithfield, North Carolina, where she loved to run barefoot in the countryside. Unfortunately, her family lost the farm in the aftermath of the 1929 Great Depression.

Before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue her dreams of stardom, Taylor Swift and her parents spent a few years of her childhood living on a Christmas tree farm in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. It was something that Swift didn't reveal until a tweet in December 2019.

Actor Garrett Hedlund grew up on a 400-acre cattle farm outside of Wannaska, Minnesota with his father. At 14, he then moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to live with his mother and two older brothers.

The 'Lost' actor, Matthew Fox, lived on a ranch located in Fremont County, Wyoming. Matthew's father raised horses, as well as growing barley for a little beer company called 'Coors.'

'Marvel' actress Krysten Ritter grew up on a cattle farm in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, with her mother, sister, and stepfather. She would sometimes wake up with the sun around 5 am to feed the cows and calves, and has confessed in interviews that she still remembers one of the farm animals named 'Jake.'

MacKenzie Porter, the famed Canadian country singer, passed her young days on the family ranch outside of Alberta listening to the music she would end up falling in love with. According to her interview, out there in the countryside, there wasn't much more to do than listen to music.

Two very famous TV twins, Drew and Jonathan Scott, aka the 'Property Brothers,' hosted the second season of their famed reform reality show on their Canadian ranch outside of Vancouver. It was there that they spent part of their childhood together.

Carrie Underwood, who rose to fame for winning the fourth season of 'American Idol,' grew up on her parent's farm in Checotah, Oklahoma. As Underwood has said in interviews many times over, her parents continue to live in the same farmhouse where she grew up.

The American actress Melissa McCarthy, known for her role in the series 'Mike and Molly,' has always been very proud of her rural origins. She grew up on her family's corn and soybean farm in Plainfield, a village in Will County, Illinois.

American country music singer Luke Bryan grew up on a peanut farm in Georgia with his parents. Before moving to Nashville to bet on making it in the world of music, he worked very hard with his father, spending 15 hours a day and 6 days a week in the fields.

Country music singer and producer Martina McBride grew up in Sharon, Kansas, on a dairy farm owned by her mother.

American actor Tom Wopat, along with his parents and brother, also grew up on a dairy farm, although not in Kansas, but in Lodi, Wisconsin.

Australian actress Abbie Cornish, like Miranda Kerr, also grew up in New South Wales. However, Cornish was born in a town called Lochinvar. There, her parents owned a 150-acre farm where she and her four siblings grew up.

George Strait, one of the great figures of country music, grew up on a family ranch in Pearsall, Texas. It was a 2,000-acre property that has belonged to his family for several generations.

Singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher grew up with her father on a humble farm without electricity or running water. The Kilcher family farm is featured on the reality show 'Alaska: The Last Frontier.'
