Madonna's health scare: out of ICU, back home

Madonna (64) left her millions of fans around the world breathless after suddenly being admitted to the hospital. According to the latest reports, she has returned home, however, and seems to be feeling better. An official statement reads: "A full recovery is expected."

CNN and BBC state that the singer is "resting, feeling better and following doctors [sic] orders." She was in intensive care but has been released from the hospital. Madonna was taken to her residence in New York by private ambulance, and "she's in the clear".

According to TMZ, the singer battled a low-grade fever for a month before being admitted to intensive care. The Queen of Pop ignored the discomfort and avoided going to the doctor due to her busy schedule and the strenuous rehearsals for her tour... But then, everything went wrong.

As reported by several media, the 64-year-old singer was found unconscious by her team's staff on Saturday, June 24.

After being transferred to a hospital, the diagnosis was that Madonna had a bacterial infection. She was forced to remain admitted to the intensive care unit.

Guy Oseary, her representative, informed the world of what happened. He only did so several days later, through Instagram.

"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical supervision. A full recovery is expected," the representative commented on social media.

Evidently, the representative also confirmed that Madonna's tour was on hold until her full recovery.

"At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows," Guy Oseary added.

'The Celebration Tour' was scheduled to start at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver (Canada) on July 15, 2023. All tickets were sold out.

Said tour was going to take the Queen of Pop around the world until early 2024, going through 43 cities.

'The Celebration Tour', as can be read on the web, "will sing her incomparable musical repertoire of the last 40 years," and also "pay tribute to New York City, where she began her musical career."

Produced by Live Nation, the tour included would stop in cities such as Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Miami, before traveling to Europe in the fall, where it would go through eleven other locations such as Paris, Stockholm, Barcelona, and London.

Once the tour in London ended, on December 6, Madonna's idea was to return to the United States and resume giving concerts until January 20, 2024.

Not only is Madonna's health scare going to delay the tour, but it could also mean chaos with the tickets since most dates had already been sold out.

In the tour presentation video, Madonna herself acknowledged that she was excited to explore as many songs as possible in the hope of giving fans the show they've been waiting for.

Although many in the entertainment industry, and most vocally, Freddie Mercury, have said that the show must go on, Madonna's tour simply cannot proceed without Madonna. It will have to wait, and not everyone with a ticket may be able to finally see the superstar.

However, for now, the most important thing is that the singer recovers. Bacterial infections, depending on their nature, can be extremely dangerous.
