The 2021 Razzies

They are here again: the Golden Raspberry Awards. Better known as the Razzies, these statuettes recognize the worst films and actors of the season. Let's see who are the winners of 2021.

Worst Picture: Absolute Proof

'Absolute Proof' is an unclassifiable piece of non-fiction in which My Pillow founder Mike Lindell, a fervent Trump supporter, expounds his theories on life, the U.S. and politics. It's considered the deserved winner of 2021's Worst Picture award.

Worst Actor: Mike Lindell - Absolute Proof

He's he owner of My Pillow and the star of 'Absolute Proof.' His movie career is a joke, and now he has a Razzie to prove it.

Worst Actress: Kate Hudson - Music

'Music,' the cinematic experiment of singer Sia did not turn out well for her. There are several controversies surrounding the depiction of disability in the film, and it also got a Razzie nomination for simply being bad. Kate Hudson's performance in Sia's film earned her the Razzie award for Worst Actress.

Worst Supporting Actress: Maddie Ziegler - Music

With only 18 years, Maddie Ziegler already has a Razzie on her resume. She got it for her work in the fateful movie 'Music,' just like Kate Hudson did. One of the biggest problems with her role was that Maddie is a neurotypical person playing a nonverbal autistic girl.

Worst Supporting Actor: Rudy Giuliani - Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

The former mayor of New York and Trump's defender in the electoral fraud mess that never existed is caught in 'Borat 2' in a very compromising way while being interviewed by a young woman. A lousy performance, everyone agreed. The Razzies also gave Rudy Giuliani and his Pants Zipper the award for Worst Screen Combo.

Worst Director: Sia - Music

The Australian pop star Sia was heavily criticized for this project, for one because she cast Maddie Ziegler for the role of an autistic girl. In February, the singer announced on Twitter that she would remove certain offensive scenes from the film. She also conceded: "I listened to the wrong people and that is my responsibility, my research was clearly not thorough enough, not wide enough."

Worst remake, rip-off or sequel: 'Dolittle'

This movie, also referred to as 'The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle,' is considered the worst-conceived sequel in 2020. The family film has a stellar cast, but that makes it even worse: Tom Holland, Rami Malek, Emma Thompson and Selena Gomez, for example. Robert Downey Jr's work in 'Dolittle' was apparently not up to par with the actor's other great creations either, as the Razzie committee had nominated him for a Worst Actor award as well.

Worst screenplay: 365 Days / 365 Dni

It's a Netflix hit in some territories (a huge success, even), and there are those who consider this film the Polish version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' For the Razzie Awards jury, though, it is simply one of the worst movies produced in recent times.

An interesting nomination: Glenn Close

Here we have the curious case of a nominee for both the Oscar ánd the Razzie.

The movie 'Hillbilly Elegy' was expected to score big this season and ended up disappointing critics and audiences alike. Glenn Close went over the top with her performance and got a Razzie nomination. But... wait a minute... the Academy also nominated Glenn Close for a Best Actress Oscar for this same performance! Different criteria, obviously. And after all, she didn't win either award.
