The world of Taylor

Taylor Swift was born in Pennsylvania on the 13th of December 1989 and since she started releasing music at the age of 16, she has been one of the most loved and celebrated artists in the entire world.

A not so private life

But fame and popularity also lead to speculation and interest in your private life... That's why Taylor Swift's dating life has been scrutinized since the beginning. Do you remember every relationship and boyfriend the Grammy-winning singer has had? We are here to refresh your memory!

Joe Jonas (July, 2008 - October, 2008)

The first boy ever linked to the country musician was the Disney Channel star, Joe Jonas. And even though their relationship lasted only a few months, the way the Jonas Brothers member left Taylor Swift made big news...

He's not good at breaking up

As Swift confirmed in an interview on the Ellen Degeneres show, Joe Jonas broke up with the artist during a 25-second phone call.

Lucas Till (March, 2009 - April, 2009)

Taylor Swift then moved on with the actor Lucas Till who played the artist's love interest in her music video 'You Belong With Me'. However, the romance was very short.

Taylor Lautner (Fall 2009)

Taylor's new sweetheart attracted all the teenage attention... She was the young artist of the moment, and her new boyfriend, the actor Taylor Lautner, was everyone's favorite werewolf thanks to his role in 'Twilight'.

Meeting on a film set

The two had met on the set of the film 'Valentine's Day' where they played two high schoolers who fall in love. The relationship only lasted a few months and they ended as friends.

John Mayer (December, 2009 - February, 2010)

They exchanged some tweets about a possible collaboration together, which concluded with both singing the song 'Half of My Heart'. The two briefly dated and seemingly ended things well...

Taylor wrote a song about their breakup

But the problems were exposed months after their amicable breakup when Taylor wrote a song about her past relationship. It was called 'Dear John'. Understandably, John Mayer was unhappy about it and called out Swift in a Rolling Stone interview: "It made me feel terrible. It was a really lousy thing to do."

Corey Monteith (Spring 2010)

After the turbulent ending of Mayer and Swift's relationship, the artist had a brief romance with Glee star Corey Monteith, however, as Taylor described in the song 'Mine' (which is allegedly about Corey), she wasn't ready to be in another relationship.

Jake Gyllenhaal (October, 2010 - January, 2011)

This is without a doubt the most popular and controversial relationship in Taylor Swift's dating history. And again, it is all reflected in one of the songwriter's most famous songs: 'All Too Well'.

Living their romance in the Fall

The 'Brokeback Mountain' actor and Taylor Swift started dating in October 2010, and after spending Thanksgiving together and several coffee dates in Nashville, things started to go south at the end of December when the actor didn't celebrate Taylor's 21st birthday with the singer.

The details of their relationship in 'All Too Well'

The upstate trips with Gyllenhaal and the red scarf that the actor supposedly kept from Taylor are perfectly described in the artist's song, as well as the issue of the age gap between the two: Gyllenhall was almost 30 and Taylor was closer to 21.

Conor Kennedy (July, 2012 - October, 2012)

After all the Gyllenhaal drama, Taylor was linked to different people but nothing was ever confirmed. It wasn't until 2012 that we could see images of the singer with another boy. This time he was Robert F. Kennedy's grandson: Connor Kennedy, who was actually five years younger than Taylor.

Harry Styles (November, 2012- January, 2013)

Although they were only dating for over a month, it seems that Harry Styles and Taylor's love was strong, as they shared multiple vacations and even birthdays together. Of course, fans of both pop artists are convinced that some of their songs are totally about each other...

Calvin Harris (February, 2015 - May, 2016)

The next relationship with an unhappy ending was with another musician: Calvin Harris. The two were seen supporting each other at award shows and were together for more than a year. However, only two weeks after the official announcement of the breakup, Swift was already dating another star...

Writing songs with and about each other

Harris was not happy and wrote a song seemingly targeting the artist: 'My Way.' Taylor Swift would later make an album, 'High Infidelity,' that allegedly struck back at the artist.

Letting it all out on Twitter

In addition, after it was confirmed that Taylor had co-written the song 'This Is What You Came for' with him, Harris went on to X (then Twitter) to complain about the artist: "I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."

Tom Hiddleston (May, 2016 - September, 2016)

Taylor's new famous celebrity love interest was actor Tom Hiddleston. The pair met at the Met Gala of 2016 when the singer was still with Harris. At the time, a video was published on Instagram where the two celebrities could be seen dancing all night long.

Too public for Taylor

According to information published in the media outlet US Weekly, Hiddleston was eager to be very public about their relationship whilst Taylor had learned her lesson. And their love ended up fizzling out.

Joe Alwyn (May, 2017 - April, 2023)

Without a doubt, this has been Swift's most private and longest relationship to date. In fact, at the beginning of their romance, Alwyn confirmed their attempt to stay private in an interview with British Vogue: "I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people…"

Quarantining and writing songs together

In fact, through very cryptic Instagram posts, fans figured out that the two were spending Covid quarantine together. At that time, Taylor was composing her album 'Folklore' which, under the pseudonym William Bowery, Joe Alwyn even helped to write: "Joe and I really love sad songs…we've always bonded over music…we write the saddest songs," revealed Swift in an interview with Apple Music.

An unexpected breakup

However, in April 2023, US Weekly released that the two had broken up "amicably" and that there was "no drama" between Alwyn and Swift. This was an expected explanation of why the actor wasn't seen in any shows of the artist's new 'The Eras Tour'.

A single era...?

While Taylor is on tour and healing from the breakup, we didn't expect to be seeing any new boyfriends really soon. But... we were wrong.

Travis Kelce (September 2023 - ...)

In July 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said on a podcast that he had been to Taylor Swift's concert and that he would like to give her his number. Fast forward to September 2023, and we see Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game, wearing the colors of her supposed boyfriend, and watching the game with his mother! This looks like a serious new step in Taylor Swift's adventurous love life.
