The best celebrity cameos in Hollywood

Sometimes we are lucky enough for a top star to make a brief appearance in a movie - sometimes they can do it repeatedly without anyone noticing(!). Here are a few genius celebrity cameos that we won’t forget…

It was totally fitting that Keith Richards played Jack Sparrow’s dad, as Depp has mentioned on more than one occasion that Richards was the inspiration for his character.

The music legend played himself in the hilarious ‘Zoolander’. Bowie appears as a judge in a walk off between Derek and his nemesis.

In the film N.A.T.M., Jackman plays himself. The actor is staring in the play ‘Camelot’ and Lancelot is hoping to return to Camelot with the tablet, which he thinks is the Holy Grail - Jackson is simply hilarious.

The Aussie actor is also great as wolverine in First Class when he is less than friendly with Professor X and Magneto. Did you know Jackman spontaneously changed the line during the 8th cut of the scene which then got a better reaction of the other actors and was kept in the final version?

Marvel fans were so pleased when they saw Matt Damon’s hilarious appearance in 'Thor: Ragnarok’. The actor sported a black wig and played Loki in a theatrical performance in Asgard. The play was so bad, and that just added to the hilarity of the scene.

You might have seen another familiar face in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. Thor, in the same play where Damon plays Loki, is played by Chris Hemsworth’s real-life older brother, Luke.

Fans of Cate Blanchett may have had a difficult time recognising her as she was hidden behind a surgical mask. Interestingly Director Edgar Wright knew that Cate Blanchett was a fan of his work on ‘Shaun of the Dead’, so he cast her in a cheeky cameo as Nicholas’ ex-girlfriend, Janine Jackson.

We will miss Stan Lee’s cameos. He appeared in 22 MCU films and even made a cameo in ‘Into The Spiderverse’ where he sells Miles a Spider-Man costume from a store. The exchange if brief but the message is clear: anyone can be Spiderman.

Cringeworthy and weird - Madonna joins the film in a black leather corset as a fencing instructor. Speaking to Brosnan’s Bond, she says “I see you handle your weapon well.” Even worse? Brosnan replies with, “I have been known to keep my tip up”.

Mike Tyson gave a brilliant performance when he appeared in the 2009 comedy The Hangover, with the former boxer playing himself searching for his pet tiger that was stolen by the main characters of the film. The ex boxer claims his involvement in the comedy helped him turn his life around and become sober. Ironic.

Unrecognisable both physically and characteristically. Cruise’s performance is absolutely brilliant and he is truly hilarious. If you haven’t seen the film, it is an underrated gem and Cruise is a cherry on top.

The fake-tan king and real estate tycoon appeared in a scene shot at his iconic Plaza Hotel, where he gives Kevin some quick directions. Depending on who you ask, Trump was desperate to appear in the film, but if you ask Trump, they begged him to do the cameo.

There are two incredible and memorable scenes starring the magnificent and delightfully eccentric Christopher Walken. He almost stole the show in one of cinema's most entertaining and hilarious cameos as Butch’s dad’s soldier friend in ‘Pulp Fiction’.

In the lesser known film ‘True Romance’ Walken appears in a scene with Dennis Hopper and the scene is electrifying. Two acting greats battling it in a brilliantly written scene.

Scorsese had two cameos in the film, including a eerie scene as the ‘Passenger Watching Silhouette’. In this scene, the passenger shares his sinister plans for his unfaithful wife, ultimately igniting the main character’s obsession with guns.

In the brilliant golf comedy 'Happy Gilmore’, famous host of ‘The Price is Right’ Bob Barker, appeared as Sandler’s celebrity partner in a golf tournament, In this brilliant scene Barker beats up the temperamental Happy Gilmore after he lost his temper because of an annoying heckler. The fight ended with Happy unconscious and Barker standing over him, victorious. Barker agreed to the cameo only if he won the fight. Pure cinema gold.

Matt Damon was in Prague shooting The Brothers Grimm at the same time as they were filming ‘Euro Trip’ and he agreed to make a brief cameo in the movie as a singer in a punk band.

Billy Idol gives a great cameo performance in ‘The Wedding Singer’. Billy gives a motivational speech to the hero of the film, onboard a plane full of passengers, who join the 80’s rocker in encouraging Sandler to get the girl of his dreams.

Michelle Rodriguez plays Holga Kilgore in the latest Dungeons and Dragons movie, a warrior who was disowned from her tribe for marrying an outsider. When we finally meet that outsider who Holga sacrificed everything for, we meet Marlamin (Bradley Cooper) who is a tiny halfling.

It’s a real blink and you’ll miss it kind of moments as the ever incredible Brad Pitt plays the character of Vanisher, a member of Deadpool’s team. Vanisher is completely invisible and you don’t see him on screen until he meets his end by electrocution, revealing a micro second vision of Mr Brad Pitt.

The film is packed full of references to famous movies. Our favourite is the appearance of Christopher Lloyd playing Doc Brown from 'Back to the Future.' The star discovers him working on the DeLorean, while the Back to the Future theme plays in the background.

'Free Guy' is a fun movie with a lot of heart. Chris Evans appears as himself in one scene and appears less than happy to see Guy wielding Captain America's shield. Chris’s response. 'What the s**?’ Brief, unexpected and brilliant.
