Jeffrey Carlson: what did the 48-year-old actor die of?

The well-known actor Jeffrey Carlson has died a mysterious death at the age of 48. There are so many questions, doubts and theories as to how this young talent died.

The cause of the actor's untimely death is not known at this time.

Jeffrey Carlson is an actor who made television history by playing one of the first trans characters on daytime television, in the series 'All My Children', on ABC (USA).

Jeffrey Carlson started working on the series in 2006, playing Freddie Luper, a British rock star whose stage name was Zarf.

Throughout the chapters, the plot focused on the character's personal discovery and, after a while, she would end up becoming Zoe, a trans woman.

Zarf's move to Zoe was met with divided opinions, as LGTBIQ+ collectives applauded the bravery of the series, but other sectors turned their backs on it and criticized it.

Mind you, despite some criticism, this plot was awarded a GLAAD Media Award for the series in 2007.

On top of the torn opinions and the awards, Jeffrey Carlson was American television history - due to the successful role he played - and now he is gone forever.

Adam Feldman, theatrical editor of 'Time Out New York', broke the news via Twitter.

Although the death occurred on July 6, the news was not made public until several days later.

"RIP Jeffrey Carlson, 48, exposed-nerve star of Broadway (Billy in The Goat, Marilyn in Taboo) and TV (the groundbreaking trans character Zoe on All My Children). A powerful actor and a painful loss," he commented on the tweet, without offering additional information on the cause of death.

Born in Long Beach (California), Jefrrey Carlson graduated from the renowned Juilliard School and made a name for himself on Broadway, where he debuted in 2002.

It was with the play 'The Goat, and Who is Sylvia?' by Edward Albee that got her noticed, although she also had roles in 'Tartuffe' in 2003 and in 'Taboo', Boy George's short-lived musical in 2004.

That same year, 2004, he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Marilyn in 'Taboo'.

But his greatest roles came with the 'Shakespeare Theatre Company' where, among others, he played the main roles in plays such as 'Hamlet' and 'Romeo and Juliet'. In the photo, we remember Jeffrey Carlson as 'Marilyn', as well as Fran Drescher and Euan Morton as 'Boy George'.

In film, the most recognizable role, although brief, was the one he had playing Egon, in 'Hitch', the Will Smith and Eva Mendes romantic comedy in 2005.
