After 35 years, the voice of Milhouse has left The Simpsons: What happens now?
To the general public, even to many fans of 'The Simpsons', Pamela Hayden is not a household name. And yet, she has been a central part of the series for 35 years.
The actress has been responsible for voicing Rod Flanders, Jimbo Jones, and, above all, Milhouse Van Houten since the first episode. The series began on December 17, 1989.
It has been 35 years, which in her case is half of her life. It's not illogical, therefore, that she decided to end her connection to the Fox animated series at age 70.

Pamela Hayden herself announced her retirement with an emotional 90-second video, where she confirmed her farewell and praised the character who gave her eternal glory: Milhouse.
"One of the things I love about the character is that he always falls down but he keeps getting up," says the voice actress in a video that combines her own farewell with images of Milhouse in the series.

The official 'Simpsons' account reposted the video, so that its millions of fans around the world could learn the unexpected news. In the photo, we see the actress with Matt Groening, creator of the series.
"Thank you for 35 years of Milhouse and so many more, Pamela Hayden," the people behind 'The Simpsons' added at the end of the video.
The last episode in which Pamela Hayden voiced Milhouse aired on Sunday, November 24 in the United States. It was the special 'Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes'.
The question that all fans of the series asked themselves, knowing what happens to characters whose voice actors die, is obvious: would Milhouse stop appearing in the series? The answer is no.

Pamela Hayden is leaving Springfield to try new projects, but she has not died. For this reason, as stated by 'The Hollywood Reporter', the producers of the series will soon open auditions to find a new voice for Milhouse so that he can continue to appear in the series as normal.
A breath of fresh air for a world that, after 35 years, has learned to love Milhouse. The character gained prominence and relevance in the series, deservedly so and, in large part, thanks to Pamela Hayden.
