Chris Pratt is a traditional man

Beyond being a Hollywood superstar, everyone knows that Chris Pratt is a man of simple, traditional and perhaps somewhat conservative tastes.

A father with old-fashioned ideas

Chris Pratt considers his role as a father absolutely essential. He has very clear ideas about it, and others may find it a bit extreme. One example is the way he tries to "make a man" of his son. Even the expression itself already has a certain old-fashioned aroma.

Jack is the son of Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

Jack was born on August 25, 2012 as the only son of Chris Pratt and Anna Faris (pictured). The two are no longer together. In addition, the actor also has two daughters, Lyla Maria and Eloise Christina, from his previous marriage to Katherine Schwarzenegger.

Happy Birthday?

For the occasion of the boy's tenth birthday, Chris Pratt is preparing a special day for the young Jack Pratt.

Initiation rite to adulthood

The actor wants to take advantage of the fact that his son is turning ten to offer him a curious and very personal rite of passage towards adulthood. It includes elements that are... surprising?

He explained it in 'Smartless'

Pratt explained his plan on the podcast 'Smartless' which is hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.

Ten days to say goodbye to your childhood

His plan is to take Jack for ten days to go camping and fishing. It will be an exclusive father-and-son getaway where Chris Pratt leaves with a boy and hopes to "come back with a man."

'Ten days, ten movies

"It dominates a huge portion of my mind, thinking about fishing with Jack up there," he says. The ten days of camping will also include ten days of cinema. "Ten days, ten movies," he said on the podcast.

A personal selection

To achieve Jack's supposed "manhood," in addition to fishing and camping, the actor has prepared a curious selection of films that they will watch together. A priori, the films do not seem to have much connection between them.

From 'Rambo' to 'Dumb and Dumber'

The list contains several films that are Rated R or PG-13. They range from action classic 'Rambo' to silly comedy 'Dumb and Dumber.'

Films from Chris Pratt's own youth?

It is likely that the actor, born in 1979, watched these films when he was young, in his teens maybe. And that's probably why he believes they can have a formational impact on someone.

Too much for a 10-year old?

As you can see, several titles are Rated R or PG-13. Think of 'Rambo' or 'Bloody Contact.' Isn't the actor worried that his son will get nightmares in the tent after watching these violent movies?

How will Jack get back from his trip?

As the social media discussion about Chris Pratt's initiation ritual has shown, people are anxious to know in what conditions of maturity Jack Pratt will return from this trip.

Criticism on social media

A lot of comments on social media express concern with the fact that the movies aren't suitable for a 10-year-old child. Moreover, they question the idea that a parent would decide for their child that it's ready for adulthood in the first place.

Maturity at his own pace

Whether he's 10, 12, or 18, young Jack Pratt will probably make up his own mind on when he want to become an adult. Just as the two grown-up characters do in 'Dumb and Dumber'!
