Christina Aguilera has Latin roots and speaks Spanish fluently because her father, Fausto Xavier Aguilera, was born in Ecuador and her mother, Shelly Loraine Fidler, despite being a U.S. citizen, has Irish German ascendancy and was a Spanish teacher and translator.

Her childhood wasn't easy. Christina's father was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and he reportedly was abusive to her mother. Christina took shelter in singing and music to escape from that traumatic situation. She found inspiration in artists like Etha James, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Nina Simone.

Some of her first works were theater productions and TV programs like 'Star Search' and 'Mickey Mouse Club'. Yes, just like many other child stars like Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, or Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera was a Disney girl.

It was precisely for that that in 1998 she recorded the main song of the Disney movie 'Mulan'. It was called 'Reflection'. It was the beginning of her successful music career.

Her first album, named after her, was released in 1999 and has some of her biggest hits like 'Genie in a Bottle'. That album granted her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and was the definitive step into her international career.

In 2000, the artist released 'Mi reflejo', an album entirely in Spanish that made her the first U.S. artist to win a Latin Grammy Award. Christina Aguilera's life was full of awards and recognition.

That same year, Christina Aguilera sued her manager, Steve Kurtz, under the suspicion that he was taking more money than what he was supposed to for his representation work. California State Authorities ruled in the singer's favor. Since then, she has managed herself and her PR, joining forces with producer Irving Azoff.

Christina Aguilera was the top artist of the moment and "the voice of her generation" due to her incredible vocal registry. In 2001, the artist released another one of her hits: 'Lady Marmalade', together with Mýa, Pink, and Lil' Kim. It was part of the soundtrack of 'Moulin Rouge!'.

Although most of the time the artist has rocked incredible blond hair, it was around that time when she was really experimenting with her image and different styles.

Later, other hits like 'Ain't No Other Man' and 'Candyman' came from the album 'Back To Basics' released in 2006. At that point, she decided to take a break to focus on her personal life and welcome her first child.

Christina Aguilera was dating the music executive, Jordan Bratman, who she met in 2003. Two years later, in 2005, they announced their engagement and got married in November in Napa Valley (California). Her first child, Max Liron Bratman, was born in January 2008. 2010 was a really important year for the artist. Besides releasing her album 'Blonde', she participated in the movie 'Burlesque' alongside Cher.

Christina Aguilera had already flirted with acting. Her first acting role was in 1999 in an episode of 'Beverly Hills, 90210'; she later went back to the small screen in 2015 to star in 'Nashville'. In 2004, Aguilera was also the voice of one of the jellyfishes in the animated movie 'Shark Tale' and she participated in the 2018 movie called 'Zoe', directed by Drake Doremus and starring Léa Seydux and Ewan McGregor.

Thanks to 'Burlesque', Aguilera met the production assistant Matt Rutler with whom she got engaged in 2014. In August of that same year, the couple welcomed their daughter, Summer Rain.
