What's the new version about?

Set in the 19th century in the fictional German town of Wisborg, the story follows Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) and his wife Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp). Their happy days come to an end when a vampire becomes obsessed with Ellen and starts stalking her.

Depp’s character is the true hero

Eggers told EW: "In many ways, he's [Hoult] the damsel in distress in this story. The main thing that makes this different from the other versions of Nosferatu is that it focuses much more on Lily-Rose’s character Ellen.

Eggers' trusted collaborators

To achieve his unique vision, Eggers teamed up with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Jarin Blaschke and production designer Craig Lathrop.

Development started in 2015

Development started shortly after the release of 'The Witch,' which marked Eggers' directorial debut and Anya Taylor-Joy’s acting debut. Initially intended as his second film, Eggers delayed 'Nosferatu' to perfect it.

Mostly filmed in Eastern Europe

The movie was primarily shot in Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic and Romania, from February to May 2023.
