Harvey Weinstein has cancer. Specifically, the co-founder of Miramax suffers from chronic myeloid leukemia. NBC News confirmed the news of the diagnosis.

Many health problems

The once-powerful producer made headlines last September when he underwent emergency heart surgery, which raised alarm bells about his health. It appears that his health has worsened in recent weeks.

Multiple serious ailments

In fact, cancer and cardiovascular problems are just other health problems, such as diabetes, double pneumonia, and COVID-19 which almost cost him his life a few years ago.

The leak has not been well received

Curiously, the fact that his recently revealed illness has become viral news has not gone down too well with Harvey Weinstein's entourage. Juda Engelmayer, the former producer's official spokesperson, spoke to Variety about this.

Weinstein's circle asks for respect and privacy

"It is both troubling and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become a subject of public discourse. Out of respect for Mr Weinstein’s privacy, we will offer no further comment," he told the newspaper.

The flow of information is cut off

The statement also highlights that Rothfeld "expresses profound dismay at the speculation surrounding Mr Weinstein’s medical condition," and has decided not to offer "no further comment" on the matter.

A very aggressive cancer

Chronic myeloid leukemia is a cancer that is located in the bone marrow-producing cells inside the bones, according to Mayo Clinic.

Sick and awaiting more trials

At 72 years old, and still with pending cases and trials, Harvey Weinstein is beginning to accumulate serious health problems. He is currently receiving treatment in a New York prison where he is serving a 16-year sentence for abuse and is waiting to find out whether that sentence will be extended in the upcoming cases.

40 years of complaints

Harvey Weinstein was accused by more than 80 women of harassment, assault, and abuse from the early 1980s to 2017. Among the accusers were stars such as Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ashley Judd.
