Robert Maraj: a fatal hit-and-run on Long Island

It's a great family drama for singer Nicki Minaj. Her father, Robert Maraj, died on Friday February 12 in a fatal car accident. The news was reported two days later by TMZ.

The driver fled the scene

Robert Maraj, 64, was hit by a car while out for a walk. The driver of the vehicle that hit him fled after the incident.

It happened on Long Island

The fatal hit-and-run took place in Mineola Township, Long Island, New York, on Friday at 6 p.m. between Roslyn Street and Raff Avenue.

No clues about the driver

The problem in locating the perpetrator of the fatal hit-and-run is that, as the sun had already set at that time, the police of Nassau County said it was almost impossible to see the details of the vehicle, such as the car model or the number plate.

Attempts to save his life at the hospital

Despite the accident, Rober Maraj was alive but in critical condition when he went to hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he died hours after arriving there.

No news from Nicki Minaj

For the moment, Nicki Minaj has not commented on the matter. In fact, media report that the relationship between father and daughter was complicated.

Nicki Minaj: recent motherhood

The news comes just four months after the singer gave birth to her first child from her relationship with producer Kenneth Perry, whom she married in November 2019.

Nicki Minaj: Temporary retirement

In October 2019, the actress and singer announced her temporary retirement from music to focus on her future motherhood. "I love music and interacting with my fans, so I don't see myself retiring completely, but I want to open up to other possibilities in my life," she had told Billboard magazine.
