Tim Taylor and other wonderful TV dads

TV has seen some of the best, kindest, and most resourceful dads. Let's honor them on Father's Day!

What about Tim Taylor, the 'tool man' from 'Home Improvement' - played by Tim Allen? He wasn't the best at fixing things, despite his self-proclaimed nickname, but he had some pretty decent parenting skills. His neighbor Wilson helped him out whenever he was stuck in a situation with both his kids and his wife.

Charles Ingalls

'Pa,' also known as Charles Ingalls, always took care of his family and even sacrificed his safety at times to do so. The late Michael Landon embodied this perfect TV dad on 'Little House on the Prairie,' who always had a fiddle tune to wind down with at night and a wise word of advice whenever it was needed.

Danny Tanner

Danny Tanner, played by the late Bob Saget in 'Full House,' is a legend. A single father, raising three little girls on his own after his wife died - not an easy task. With the help of a good friend and the girls' uncle, Danny Tanner raised some great kids and taught us some important lessons along the way. Who doesn't love a corny Danny Tanner heart-to-heart?

Philip Banks

Uncle Phil, played by the late James Avery, wasn't perfect, but he was the only dad that Will ever knew on the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.' Yes, Uncle Phil could have quite the temper, but he had the difficult task of keeping all those crazy kids and his wacky nephew in line.

Phil Dunphy

Ty Burrell plays the loveable Phil Dunphy on 'Modern Family.' Phil might not be very bright, but he has an enormous heart and a child-like soul, making him one of the most fun and most loving fathers on this list.

Eddard 'Ned' Stark

Sean Bean played Ned Stark on 'Game of Thrones,' and Ned was probably the best dad on the show. Even if he died right away in season one, he still raised some pretty awesome, hardcore kids who were unafraid to fight for what was right.

Ricky Ricardo

The late Desi Arnaz interpreted the role of Ricky Ricardo in the classic TV show 'I Love Lucy.' Maybe by modern standards, Ricky wasn't the most amazing dad ever, but by 1950s standards, he was outstanding!

Jack Pearson

Jack Pearson embodies everything you'd expect from the perfect TV dad. Milo Ventimiglia gave life to Jack on 'This is Us,' a character who showed himself to be a selfless provider. The king of pep talks and hilarious one-liners, Jack Pearson loved his kids unconditionally.

William Hill

Another admirable father from 'This is Us.' William Hill, played by actor Ron Cephas Jones, only knew his son Randall a short time. And no, he didn't raise Randall and actually gave him up for adoption, but he certainly made up for lost time and had a significant impact on Randall's life.

Louis Huang

In' Fresh Off the Boat,' Louis Huang, portrayed by Randall Park, isn't the most practical of fathers, but he sure is a good one. He constantly supports and cares for his family and stays positive despite dealing with his control-obsessed partner.

Steve Brady

David Eigenberg embodied the awkward Steve Brady on 'Se* and the City.' Even though there are many men in the series, Steve is one of only a handful of fathers. Even cynical Miranda recognizes how awesome Steve is at the whole parenting thing. In the first film based on the series, Miranda writes "Good father" on her pros and cons list as a "pro" when deciding if she should take Steve back.

Gomez Addams

John Astin's portrayal of Gomez Adams in the original 'Addams Family' series was just fantastic. While Gomez might not be the most conventional of fathers, he spends loads of time with his children and clearly loves them dearly.

Adam Braverman

Played by Peter Krause, Adam Braverman is the best dad on 'Parenthood.' Apart from always loving and supporting his family, Adam also goes to exceptional lengths for his son Max who has Asperger's.

Jason Seaver

The late Alan Thicke's character on 'Growing Pains' definitely needs to make the list. Dr. Seaver moved his office to his home to always be near his family and was the master of resolving conflicts amongst his children. A loving, present dad, with some amazing hair, what more do you need?!

Carl Winslow

First of all, Carl Winslow of 'Family Matters' deserves a medal for putting up with Steve Urkel for so many years without strangling him! Reginald VelJohnson portrayed one of the most loving and caring fathers ever to grace our tv screen. He wasn't perfect, but he sure tried hard to be the best dad he could be.

Mike Brady

The late Robert Reed played the role of one of TV's most iconic dads ever: Mike Brady of 'The Brady Bunch.' Without their dad Mike, the Brady family would have been in trouble. His calm character, strong morals, and wisdom helped his kids many, many times.

Al Bundy

Sure, he was a bit grumpy and claimed not to like his family, but Al Bundy (played by El O'Neil) on 'Married With Children,' was always there for his family... no matter the level of disrespect. Despite all the dysfunction, Al loved them all!

George Lopez

It would be a crime not to include TV dad George Lopez of 'The George Lopez Show' on this list. The stand-up comedian George Lopez played himself in this sitcom, where he depicted a loving father determined to be the dad he didn't have when he was growing up. His parental mishaps and side-busting one-liners not only cracked us up but also taught us a thing or two at the same time.
