With Christmas just around the corner, studios have been releasing their new offerings, but are which were the most anticipated? Are there any secret classics among the new batch, or are we looking at tired and unoriginal ideas?
So once you've done the old classics, it is time to check out the new ones, given to us via streaming platforms this year. So here are all the new festive Christmas films coming to all size screens in 2024.
After Santa is kidnapped The Head of North Pole security (Dwayne Johnson) must band together with a notorious hacker played by Chris Evans. This globe-trotting action film has a great cast and if you prefer something a little more hands on than 'The Nutcracker' this could be a good choice for you. Right now in theaters and soon available on Amazon Prime.
Released by Paramount+, this Christmas comedy has all the ingredients of a classic. An original story starring Jack Black as the devil… what could go wrong? When a young boy writes to Santa asking to prove to his friends he is real, a spelling mistake gives the young lad much more than he bargained for.

Yes please! Ben Stiller in a Christmas movie about giving away children just before the holidays. Michael (Ben Stiller) arrives just before Christmas to take care of his nephews until social services can find them a foster home. Stiller more than has his hands full in this festive family film on Hulu.

Another Netflix Christmas thriller, with a less-than-catchy title, 'Merry Christmas', was an Indian film released in January this year. It was a box office flop, despite praise for the stars- perhaps the plot didn't capture the audiences' attention. A dead body is found at Christmas and the perpetrator had this planned all along with a bizarre and extravagant way to create an alibi.

In a mixture of two classics, Alice In Wonderland and Clement Clarke Moore's poem, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas'. The story features characters from both story worlds and include The Queen of Hearts voiced by Emilia Clarke and Alice voiced by Simone Ashley. Also Father Christmas is voiced by Gerard Butler. One for Christmas day, as the duo return home to the BBC 16 years after last adventure. The feature-length film sees Wallace becoming over-dependent on his inventions and Gromit's growing concern proves right when Wallace creates a 'smart gnome' that develops a mind of its own.

Listen carefully because I'm sure you will recognise many of the voices in this sweet and wholesome holiday film. Disney+ gives us an owl named Moon who tries to escape the city but gets stuck in a Christmas tree bound for New York.

The moral of the story, available on Amazon Prime and in US theaters, is that kids will be kids and yet we have much to learn from them.
