Well-dressed men at the 2023 Venice Film Festival

As a movie star coming to Italy, the land of fashionistas, you'd better wear your very best attire. The men in this gallery know what we are talking about. They look classy both in their tuxedos on the red carpet and in casual wear on the Venice canals during the city's annual Film Festival.

Despite the strike, they promote their films

But wait, weren't Hollywood actors supposed to be on strike, along with the writers? Well, as it turns out, GQ magazine explains, there's an interim agreement in the SAG-AFTRA union, "exempting actors and writers involved in films backed by independent distributors from the promotional ban."

Damien Chazelle supports striking writers and actors

This is why we can see some of the stars on the red carpet in Venice, promoting their new movies. Even if, like director Damien Chazelle in this picture, they decide to use their appearances to send a message to the world about the strike.

Mads Mikkelsen brought his son

Mads Mikkelsen, in a white dinner jacket, brought his son Carl Jacobsen with him. They wonderfully combine classic and bicolor tuxes as they walk the red carpet together, on their way to see Mikkelsen's new film, 'The Promised Land.'

Loose and leisurely

Before putting on their tuxedos for the premiere, actors can wear more casual outfits at the afternoon photocall. This is surely what Adam Driver opted for with his untucked, white linen shirt at the 'Ferrari' photocall.

Prom look

Thai actors Zee Pruk Panich and NuNew Chawarin wear matching tuxedos with broad 70s-style waistbands and bowties, designed by Brunello Cucinelli. It looks like they're taking their dates to prom in the Palazzo del Cinema.

Regé-Jean Page

He's considered one of the most beautiful men in the entertainment industry. In Venice, he dresses sharply as always. The 'Bridgerton' star wears an all-black ensemble in which the jacket is trimmed with rhinestones for a special effect.

Wes Anderson

By now, the famous director is expected to wear one of his characteristic costumes at public events. In Venice, its fabric was striped in red and white, so delicate and fine that photographers had trouble capturing the pattern on film.

Trucker hat

While the director took off his suit jacket in the afternoon heat, actor Benicio del Toro decided to wear a trucker hat to protect his skin from the sun. Probably not his best look, but it surely is practical.

Tony Leung, Golden Lion winner

Hong Kong actor Tony Leung received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his four decades in acting and his many international successes. Leung is best known for Hong Kong movies, three of which received a Golden Lion in the past. The anglophone audience will also know him from Marvel's 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.'

Shoes for a star

Below his casual, loose-fitting drawstring trousers, Leung chose a remarkable pair of shoes: trendy Nikes in mismatched colors!

Mark Ronson

Yes, actress Grace Gummer looks fantastic in her low-cut black gown, but check out Mark Ronson too! The British DJ and producer dressed up in an elegant all-black ensemble at the Armani fashion show. He would later entertain the guests with an exclusive set.

Wes Anderson in white

To support female colleagues at the Miu Miu Women's Tales event, Wes Anderson chose a color for his suit that evokes the cause of women's rights: all-white.

Woody Allen

And this Hollywood icon is, well, truly himself. Wherever he goes, Woody Allen does not take off his characteristic bucket hat or change his kaki pants for any occasion or anyone.

Beautifully monochrome

Actor Lukas Gage and hair stylist Chris Appleton, a married couple since April 2023, made a lovely combo in their respective monochrome outfits. Lukas, in white, combined Armani and Cartier, while Chris, in light blue, chose Dolce & Gabbana.

No socks!

'If Adam Driver doesn't have to tuck his shirt, I'm not wearing socks,' Patrick Dempsey must have thought right before the 'Ferrari' photocall. In his blue pinstripe suit and T-shirt, the 'Grey's Anatomy' star still looks phenomenal though.

Michael Evans Behling

More monochrome and elegant black suits at the Armani 'One night only Venezia' event. This one is worn by Michael Evans Behling, the actor known for the sports drama series 'All American' and movies like 'The Cinderella Story' and 'The Manny.'

Refreshing in Valentino

Belgian actor Johannes Wirix chose to wear a classy Valentino suit with an oversized jacket. "My heart is beating, pounding, bouncing, jumping. So grateful," he wrote on Instagram about his 15 minutes of fame at the Venice Film Festival.

Caleb Landry Jones

Presenting their new film, 'Dogman,' Caleb Landry Jones and Jojo T. Gibbs were strangely but beautifully in sync. Each wore a shirt or top with a striking and not exactly matching print. The Texan actor, who is known for 'Get Out,' 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,' and 'Nitram,' spoke with a Scottish accent during the entire press conference. People magazine reported that he was practicing the accent for his next film.

One of the winners in Venice

Spanish influencer Pelayo Díaz wowed the red carpet with this Fendi gray wool suit. Its embellishments in the sleeves and hems of the suit, as well as the asymmetrical wool top below made him stand out among the celebrities at the premiere of 'The Killer.'

Bohemian Taika Waititi

While his wife Rita Ora wore a glamorous see-through sheer dress by Stéphane Rolland, comedian and director Taika Waititi opted for a loosely fitting jacket in burgundy and gray with a wide-opened shirt and a necklace of stones and pearls beneath it.

Gallant George Clooney

And then, of course, there's the Clooney couple to make every gathering a legitimate superstar event. Amal Clooney wore a vintage pink lace Christian Dior dress, while the gallant George Clooney helped her onto the boat as he had done many times before in Venice.

The Olympus of Hollywood stardom

Their appearance yielded a photo that seemed to have been taken from a film or a music video. A blurred still in which it was once again clear why Mr. Clooney in his black suit with unbuttoned navy shirt is the Man of the Hour at any party.
