A bus accident throws shadows over Shania Twain's tour

The tour to celebrate her first album in a long time, 'Queen Of Me', has been disturbed after a terrible bus accident put some of Shania Twain's concert crew out of rotation.

Tremendous shock

The bus in which the artist's tour staff was traveling suffered a grave accident after colliding with a truck and several vehicles in Wolseley, Saskatchewan, People magazine reported.

Management company gave more details

Maverick Management shared a statement to explain what had happened: "One crew bus and one truck from the Shania Twain - Queen Of Me tour were involved in a highway accident driving between Winnipeg and Saskatoon."

Cause of the crash

As it turns out, the bad weather made it very dangerous to drive. "Multiple vehicles encountered dangerous driving conditions due to inclement weather," Maverick declared. And Fox Weather reported that "a weather observation site near the U.S.-Canada border reported a mixture of snow, freezing fog and mist at the time of the crash."

13 injured, some even rescued from inside the vehicle

According to People magazine, 13 people have been injured. Some even had to be rescued from inside the vehicle. All of them were transferred to nearby hospitals, although none of them was seriously injured.

Two of Shania's vehicles involved?

Some media outlets have commented that the truck that the bus collided with, was also part of Shania Twain's tour.

Shania herself was not in the bus

At the time of the accident, the queen of the 90s charts was not on that bus. When the news of the accident broke, fans reacted with shock, but the star quickly reassured them through Instagram Stories that she was safe.

A message to calm the fans

"First and foremost my touring family are safe," she commented. "Anyone needing medical care is receiving great support. The local community and every single crew person has been phenomenal, in the face of a very scary scenario."

No cancellation (for now)

During the next concert of the 'Queen of Me' tour in Calgary (Canada), the artist acknowledged the shock of the bus accident. There have been no cancellations in the tour, however.

Music legend

Shania Twain's album and tour were long anticipated.  She is one of the most important artists in Canadian history.

Success with 'Come on Over'

Her album 'Come On Over,' released in 1997, was the best-selling album of the 90s. It sold around 40 million copies, and counting continues.

Competing with giants

It was a huge decade for music. She competed with the likes of Alanis Morissette, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey, Santana, Backstreet Boys, and Metallica, as well as soundtracks such as 'Titanic' or 'The Bodyguard.'

'Shania Twain. Not Just a Girl' - a Netflix documentary

In 2022, Netflix released the documentary 'Shania Twain. Not Just a Girl'. In that program, the singer opened up about her struggles with Lyme disease. It affected her voice and almost took it away from her forever. Apart from that tragedy, she had also suffered abuse from her stepfather when she was young.

A long time without new music

In 2023, the artist released 'Now', her first album in six years and the third since 2000. Her previous album, 'Up,' had been released in 2002.

Limited tours and two residencies

Her return to the stage was quite an event because Shania Twain has only done four tours in her entire career, in addition to the two residencies in Las Vegas (2012-2014 and 2019-2021). The bus accident was a tragic coincidence in one of the star's rare tours.

Careful continuance of the tour

Luckily, it seems that the injuries of her staff are not serious and the 'Queen of Me' tour will be able to continue its course.
