His daughters were only 10 and 12 years old. They perished along with their dad, the actor Christian Oliver, in a tragic plane crash.

It happened in the Caribbean

The 51-year-old German actor and his two little girls, Madita and Annik, died on January 4 after the small plane they were traveling in crashed in the Caribbean, People magazine reported.

Christian Oliver was known in the world of cinema thanks to his work in films such as 'Speed Racer' (2008), 'Valkyrie' (2008), and 'The Three Musketeers' (2011).

Crashed near Bequia

A statement from the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) reported on Thursday, January 4th, that the incident had occurred off the Caribbean island of Bequia.

The causes are still unknown

As far as has been reported, the small private plane was traveling from Paget Farm's JF Mitchell Airport to St. Lucia. However, beyond that information, it is still unknown what happened to the aircraft.

"The aircraft experienced difficulties"

"Moments after taking off, the aircraft experienced difficulties and plummeted into the ocean," local authorities said in a statement. "Fishermen and divers from Paget Farm went to the scene of the incident in their boats to render assistance. The SVG Coast Guard was informed and quickly traveled to Paget Farm, Bequia, to lead in the rescue efforts."

They lost their lives

Both the pilot, identified as Robert Sachs, and his three passengers lost their lives in the accident: Christian Klepser (Christian Oliver's real name) and his two daughters, Madita (10 years old) and Annik (12 years old).

The bodies were recovered by fishermen and divers

According to authorities, fishermen and divers from the Bequia community collaborated with the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard in the recovery operation.

Christian Oliver's cause of death

The bodies were taken to Kingstown Funeral Home, where post-mortem examinations are carried out to determine the cause of death, the police statement said.

 

Local witnesses

According to the St. Vincent Times, several locals reported hearing a noise from the plane as it took off. "It sounded like when a vehicle is struggling — you know, stalling, struggling for power to go up a hill," said a resident.

'Saved by the Bell'

In the 90s, the actor participated in the series 'Saved by the Bell: The New Class', which was the second season of this beloved show.

His work with Tom Cruise

In 2008, Christian Oliver starred in 'Valkyrie', which describes the German army's plot against Hitler. The German actor played Sergeant Major Adam and worked with Tom Cruise.

Christian Oliver married Jessica Mazur in 2010. They had two daughters together. The marriage didn't last: they divorced in 2021.

The actor's last post on Instagram was tragic in hindsight: "Greetings from somewhere in paradise! To community and love …2024 here we come."
