Overdose?

On November 5, 2022, Aaron Carter was found dead in his home in Lancaster, Los Angeles (USA). More than five months later, the agonizing cause of the singer's death has been revealed.

Drowned in the bathtub

TMZ got access to the report of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office. It states that the singer died by drowning in the bathtub of his home after he lost consciousness and fell into it.

Difluoroethane and alprazolam

The cause of his unconsciousness, according to the autopsy, was difluoroethane, a flammable gas he had inhaled. Combined with the sedatives he had previously taken (alprazolam), the gas caused him to pass out.

Passed out from the combination of chemicals

Difluoroethane is a common gas used as a propellant in air aerosols but it can also cause a feeling of euphoria when inhaled.

There were no signs of violence

The report also ruled out death from life-threatening trauma, ruling out that his fall in the bathtub was due to a previous blow to the head or a push to his body.

Murder, mom said

Aaron's mother, Jane Carter, has insisted that the cause of death was not correctly established. She has a theory that Aaron was murdered.

Bathroom pictures

Jane Carter has shared five photos on her Facebook profile of the bathroom where Aaron Carter was found. They show the bathtub full of greenish water, the artist's clothes lying on the floor, and traces of feces on the floor and clothes.

"A possible crime scene"

Along with photos, Jane Carter wrote a text in which she accuses the police of not investigating the bathroom as "a possible crime scene." In fact, she reveals that the photos were not taken by the police, but by someone else who was able to access the bathroom.

"Aaron had a lot of death threats"

In addition, Jane Carter made public that "Aaron had a lot of death threats and many many people who were making his life miserable." Pending a response from the Lancaster Police, it is not known whether a new avenue of investigation will be opened or, on the contrary, the overdose will be considered the ultimate cause of his death.

Aaron Carter died without leaving a will

Despite being advised to do so by his lawyer, especially since he had his son in November 2021, Aaron Carter never got around to writing his will.

He wasn't married to the mother of his child

After the singer's death, the distribution of his inheritance and estate has been complicated. He never married Melanie Martin, the mother of his son Prince. In fact, their relationship was stormy and intermittent, as several American media have reported.

He may have spent it all

TMZ revealed the patrimonial situation of Aaron Carter. He allegedly lived by the day and may have spent everything he had earned during his time as a pop star.

House for sale

Yet, Aaron Carter had his house in Lancaster (Los Angeles) for sale. Its asking price was approximately $800,000. In case it was sold, who would get that money?

Authorities decide

It will be up to the State of California to decide who gets the proceeds of the sale. However, as is usual in these cases, the inheritance is likely to go in full to his son Prince and, therefore, to his guardian and mother, Melanie Martin.

Who will manage his fortune?

But this is where it gets complicated. As of September 2022, TMZ notes, little Prince was with Melanie Martin's mother after an intervention by the state's Family and Children's Services.

Either way, Melanie Martin already came for her stuff

After the police released Aaron Carter's house, completing their investigation of his death, Melanie Martin immediately showed up to move things out, TMZ reported.

Two moving trucks

Aaron Carter's fiancé appeared at the singer's house with two moving trucks just three days after his death, according to TMZ.

Incognito

Covered with a hoodie, Melanie Martin called the police to protect the moving process and "keep the peace" in the area.

Aaron Carter died at age 34, on November 5

The death of Aaron Carter, at the age of 34, was a shock to the entertainment industry. The young singer had been fighting his demons and addictions for years and finally died a tragic death in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, Los Angeles on November 5, 2022.

A lot going on in his last days

Little by little, details of the circumstances in which Aaron Carter lived are becoming known. His last few days were actually quite eventful.

Went to rehab

For starters, TMZ revealed that the singer was attending rehab therapy sessions on a regular basis. However, he didn't show up for the last appointment he had scheduled.

He missed his last appointment

The appointment was scheduled for Friday, November 4. It's possible that, by then, the singer had already lost his life. He was found in the bathtub of his house a day later.

All for his son

Sources close to Melanie Martin, the mother of Aaron Carter's son, told TMZ that the singer agreed to enter rehab because it would help him get more options to regain a part of the custody of his son, Prince.

Compressed air cans

However, the police informed TMZ that they had found cans of compressed air at Aaron Carter's house, as well as prescription pills. They suggested that the singer may have been huffing the compressed air as an addictive habit.

Working on a sitcom

Another surprising fact about his final days was that, apparently, Aaron Carter was working on a sitcom.

'Group'

TMZ points out that Aaron Carter participated in the pilot of 'Group', a comedy about group therapy. The topic of mental health was something Carter himself was much interested in. He may have felt like sharing something of his experience, albeit with a fictionalized version of himself.

Mental health and group therapy

Carter's work on the 'Group' pilot was confirmed by Brian Farmer, creator and director of the series. He said the pilot was shot less than a month before the singer's death.

They will dedicate the project to Carter

Brian Farmer said the makers of the show have received the green light to dedicate the entire pilot and project to Aaron Carter.

"I wish the world saw you the way I do"

Olivia Chiacchia played Carter's romantic interest in the series. She shared photos on her Instagram account and said that the singer/actor appeared to be happy to be on set. "You were truly the most loving, professional, kind and talented performer I've worked with," she wrote. "I wish the world saw you the way I do and saw your side of the story."
