Where is Travis Fimmel, the unforgettable Ragnar from 'Vikings'?

Ragnar Lothbrok is, without a doubt, one of the most memorable characters from recent television. The Viking adventurer who began the story of one of the best series of recent times was brilliantly played by Travis Fimmel. But since the actor's appearance on 'Vikings' ended, some have lost track of him.

However, Travis Fimmel didn't step away from the screen even for a moment. For example, he stars in the film 'Fool's Paradise', directed by Charlie Day and released in May 2023.

It's a comedy about a deaf-mute actor who gains sudden fame. 'Fool' s Paradise ' has a star-studded cast including Charlie Day himself, Adrien Brody, Kate Beckinsale, Jason Sudeikis, and Edie Falco.

In the same year, Travis Fimmel began playing Detective James Cormack, in the police series 'Black Snow'. His character is tasked with investigating the cold case of a teenage girl's murder in the 1990s.

The actor also appears in the series 'Dune: The Prophecy', a prequel to the 'Dune' film trilogy, produced by HBO Max and with its release planned for November 2024. He plays the mysterious soldier Desmond Hart, who will do anything to gain the Emperor's trust.

Travis Fimmel is also part of the cast of 'Rust', the unfortunate production during which the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, was accidentally shot by Alec Baldwin. Filming resumed in May 2023.

Travis Fimmel was born in 1979 in Echuca, a beautiful region of Australia where landscapes like the one in this photo can be found. The future actor was raised on a dairy farm as the youngest of three brothers.

Travis was working out at a gym in Melbourne when a talent scout from Chadwick Models spotted him. Shortly afterward, the young man found himself earning money as a model.

Fimmel managed to become the first male model in the world to land a six-figure contract with Calvin Klein. He worked exclusively for the brand for a year after being personally selected by the famous designer.

His acting career began with music videos. He appeared in Janet Jackson's 'Someone to Call My Lover' as well as Jennifer Lopez's 'I'm Real', among others.

His first TV work was on the CW series 'Tarzan', where he played the lead role for one season.

In 2009, he starred in the series 'The Beast', alongside the late Patrick Swayze. Fimmel played an FBI agent secretly investigating his partner (Swayze).

Fimmel was also part of the cast of 'The Experiment', a film based on the story of the Stanford Prison Experiment by psychologist Philip Zimbardo. Although it also had Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker in the cast, it was not a very successful movie.

Then came the role that changed everything. In 2013, Travis Fimmel totally convincingly became the ruthless Viking leader Ragnar Lothbrok in the acclaimed series 'Vikings'.

The series, in which Fimmel appeared for four years, would trigger a whole trend of Viking-inspired productions. The actor was nominated for an IGN award as 'Best TV Hero' in 2013.

While filming 'Vikings', Travis Fimmel took on the role of Anduin Lothar in the film 'Warcraft', an adaptation of the video game of the same name.

'Warcraft: The Beginning' did well at the box office, but critics had mixed opinions about its quality.

In 2017, GQ Australia recognized Travis Fimmel as the 'Best Actor of the Year.' A modest guy from the countryside, the actor said in his acceptance speech: "I'm not sure how I got this, but I demand a recount," and, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull ...."

After 'Warcraft,' it seemed to go quiet around Travis Fimmel, but he was simply working on some lesser-known projects. Among them were the Australian war film about the battle of Long Tan in Vietnam ('Danger Close,' 2019) and 'Dreamland' (2019, image) with Australian co-star Margot Robbie and the British 'Peaky Blinders' actor Finn Cole.

In 2020, he took on a new series with 'Raised by Wolves', a Sfi-Fi adventure directed by Ridley Scott in which androids raise children on a mysterious planet isolated from any kind of civilization. Travis Fimmel was nominated for a 2021 Critics' Choice Super Award for this role.
