Happy or angry, stars react to Donald Trump's new presidency
On Jan. 20, Donald Trump was sworn in again as the 47th president of the United States. The event was attended by many of the richest men in the world, alongside major politicians, and watched by millions around the world. While celebrities were not as vocal on social media as on other occasions, many still had their own unique reactions.
The ‘Star Wars’ actor Mark Hamill announced on Blue Sky that he was going to be putting his head in the sand and avoiding social media in protest. It seems like many celebs also avoided chiming in on the social media platforms owned by Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, who both attended the inauguration.

Rapper and actor ICE T posted about the irony of a felon becoming president while it is still so difficult for those with criminal records to get jobs. "If a FELON can become President… Why keep it on Job applications…? Just sayin," he posted on X.
Despite Trump pledging to roll back protections for transgender people, Caitlyn Jenner, a trans woman herself, posted about supporting Trump from day 1. She wrote: "Congratulations Mr. President. Thanks be to God!" on X.
Former Fox News host Meghan McCain who had previously exchanged insults with Trump was positive about the inauguration. "I have high hopes for this new Trump era and I wish the entire administration the best of luck. I truly hope Trump accomplishes everything he says he will. Congratulations to Republicans - wokeness is dead and the democrat brand is in ashes. Let's try not to screw it up," she posted on X.
The American actor Randy Quaid was also celebratory on X. "My favorite line: 'The impossible is what we do best.' YES!!!!" he posted, adding: "Trumps got the power! Blast off!"
Not all eyes were on Trump though. The Meta CEO was caught on camera seeming to look down at the chest of Lauren Sanchez, who is the fiance of his fellow billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Zuckerberg attended the inauguration with his wife Priscilla Chan along with a handful of other tech titans.

Commenting on the fact that the ceremony was moved inside due to cold weather, horror author Stephen King wrote on BlueSky: "Donald Trump will be indoors for the inauguration with his billionaire pals. His core supporters will be left outside in the cold. Think about that."
This quip was stated by the actor and comedian Harry Shearer, referring to Carrie Underwood being forced to sing acapella at the inauguration due to technical issues.
Celebrity boxer and influencer Jake Paul, who attended the inauguration, posted on X: "Any American who isn't in support of Trump after this speech simply hates America and doesn't want what's best for this country and the world. Today is about togetherness in every way. Fists down, unity up. Honored to be here. God Bless America."
"In a time of hate, love is an act of resistance. In a time of fear, faith is an act of resistance. In a time of misinformation, education is an act of resistance. In a time of poor leadership, community is an act of resistance. In a time like this, joy is an act of resistance. Resist, resist, resist," posted actress Jamie Lee Curtis, citing poet Loryn Brantz.
While some celebrities were crying out of sadness, actor James Woods shared about his happy tears. "I am in tears. God bless America and President Trump,” he posted on X.
Jon Stewart had some of the funniest jabs at the inauguration, particularly when it came to the tech bros, or, as Stewart described them, a “plethora of stocky, bald billionaires who also seem to go to the same biohack life extension clinic and say, ‘Give me the Lex Luthor.'... “Shouldn't this gathering be happening in a volcano's lair near Zurich? Or are we just open-sourcing the Illuminati now?” he asked.
Trump's favorite billionaire, Elon Musk, also had quite the reaction at the inauguration event, offering this gesture and excitedly proclaiming: "This is no ordinary victory; this was a fork in the road of human civilization."
