David Guetta's hypermuscular look: see how he's changed
The death of Avicii (20 April 2018) had a huge impact on the music world in general and on David Guetta in particular. Through his colleague's death, the French DJ became aware that he needed to change his habits and start taking care of himself. See how David Guetta became a super-muscled DJ.
Although Avicii was 22 years younger than David Guetta (born in 1967), the two were close friends. "The news [of his death] forced me to make some very important decisions," the DJ told The Sunday Times.
The question on everyone's mind is, what was David Guetta's routine and diet to get fitter than ever past the age of 50?
It all started in 2017. "After two years without doing much, I changed my diet, I've been training for four months, and it's working," the DJ told AskMen in July 2017. "I notice the difference and it's spectacular. It's motivating to see the results."
At the time, David Guetta was just beginning his transformation, so his workout plan was simple and accessible to those who had not trained for a long time. It was going to be a long road, but the DJ was aware and committed.
"I'm maintaining my weight now, but as I'm losing fat, I'm gaining muscle. I don't want to bulk up, I just want to be more defined and stronger," he told AskMen.
To achieve this, "I train 45 to 60 minutes with weights, four times a week. In addition, I do cardio for 30 minutes three days a week, either on an exercise bike at home or walking."
One of the perks of being a legend in Ibiza is that you can go to your island home and do cardio there. "I try to swim in Ibiza whenever I can," he says on Instagram.
And what about diet? It's as simple as "not starving myself but eating well. I eat protein, low carb three times a day, lots of vegetables, three pieces of fruit and absolutely no sugar," he tells AskMen. Eating habits that his children, Tim and Angie, have also adopted.
To this we must add the healthy fats that the DJ has incorporated into his daily routine, such as avocado, sea bass, salmon and walnuts. And, of course, as a good Mediterranean DJ, he eats "all with olive oil."
In order to keep up with his training and to make it compatible with his schedule, as he usually works in the early hours of the morning, David Guetta does his training sessions after breakfast, no matter where he is in the world. It's not easy, as jet lag often takes its toll.
Guetta's remarkable physical change coincided with his return to the highest position in the Top 100 of DJ Mag in 2020. It was a rating he had achieved before (in 2011) and it consolidated his reputation as one of the best DJs in history.
So now you know how David Guetta managed to look like a 30-year-old after he turned 50. It took a mental turnaround and a lot of commitment, but the result is fantastic.
