A flight can be torture

Thanks to irresponsibles who don't respect personal space, or people trying to hit on you, a flight in a cramped airplane can feel twice as long. Declining unwanted attention for a long period of time is not on anyone's travel list, and that's why an airline came up with something new.

Airline offers special option for women

The airline allows women buying tickets to decide whether they want to sit next to a man or not.

Where to go?

IndiGo, a low-cost airline in India, is the one that seeks to 'make the trip more comfortable' for its passengers.

First airline to do it

In recent years, various airlines have implemented new gender policies. But Indian airline IndiGo became the first to add an option in the seat selection process.

Seeing gender in the assigned seats before you buy

With the aim of 'improving the travel experience' for women, when purchasing a ticket and selecting their seat on the plane, female passengers will have the option of seeing the gender assigned to their seats.

Pink seats

Starting in August 2024, the airline provides the possibility of choosing from the general seating plan while seeing where other women are seated. The spaces occupied by women who already booked before you are highlighted in pink.

There was demand for this feature

This policy arose from suggestions from an anonymous survey. In it, female users of the company indicated what aspects could make their trip more comfortable.

Already seen in Indian trains and buses

Similar measures exist in other modes of transport in India like trains and buses, but this is the first time they are implemented by an airline. According to statements by IndiGo to CNN, the airline is "committed to providing an exceptional travel experience for all its passengers."

Will it make traveling more pleasant?

What do you think, will this new feature make traveling more comfortable for women? And would you use it if it were available to you?
