The iconic sketch comedy show was created by Lorne Michaels and the first episode was hosted by comedian George Carlin. Now in its 49th season, SNL has had over 500 celebrity hosts.

For those fortunate enough to get to host SNL, the opportunity allows them to promote their upcoming projects and test out their comedic skills alongside a talented cast.

An elite members-only club exists for those who have hosted SNL five or more times. Hosts become official members of the 'Five-Timers Club' when this milestone is reached and the proud moment is highlighted during the host's 5th show.

Kristin Wiig was a beloved cast member on SNL from 2005-2012. She is the newest member of the 'Five-Timers Club,' hosting for the 5th time on April 6th, 2024. Her big moment was celebrated with a number of celebrity cameos including Martin Short, John Hamm, Matt Damon, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Paul Rudd, and Ryan Gosling.
