Donald Trump took the Oath of Office to become President of the United States for a second time on Monday, January 20. But some viewers who tuned in at noon that day, wondered: Who is that suspicious-looking character standing next to him with the Bible? Well, that was his wife.

The most remarkable thing to observers on social media was not Donald Trump's oath of office or any other parts of the ceremony. It was First Lady Melania Trump's dark navy outfit with an incredibly wide-brimmed hat.

Designer Eric Javits said the hat was inspired by another headpiece that he had made for the First Lady a few years back. He said he was aware of the difficulty of exchanging kisses with such a huge brim.

"Going back to Victorian times, a brim sort of defined a woman's space," he told CBS. "Of course, it's not convenient to have brims colliding... Sometimes you see two women in a brim trying to greet each other with an air kiss or something." Well, that's what happened with President Trump and his wife. He could not get his lips properly under the hat.

Another striking feature about the hat was that you couldn't see Melania's eyes, nor what they were looking at... Some compared her to a spy.
