From 'Mad Men' to heaven

Christina Hendricks started acting in the early 2000s. She was launched into stardom in 2007 when she starred in 'Mad Men', a hit series that lasted until 2015.

Her character in 'Mad Men': Joan Holloway

Hendricks played the role of Joan Holloway in a show that picked up its fair share of Golden Globes and Emmys. With effortless class, she navigated the pervasive sexism of the era and came out on top in the final season.

Reality is often stranger than fiction.

It is an indisputable truth that many times reality is often stranger than fiction, and Christina Hendricks and 'Mad Men' are an example of this. As her character struggled with sexism on the show, the media focused more on her physique than her obvious acting talent.

Always grateful for that role

Despite this, Hendricks remembers her time on 'Mad Men' fondly: "I will always be grateful to Joan. She changed my career completely."

Big screen hits

While 'Mad Men' was on the air, the American actress was showered with numerous film roles. She made her mark as Alison Novak in 'Life as We Know It' (2010); Sarah Madison in 'Detachment' (2011); and last but not least, as Blanche in the cult classic 'Drive' (2011), alongside Ryan Gosling.

Still appearing on TV

Despite her time on the big screen, the great successes of Christina Hendricks' career have been on television. During her 'Mad Men' years, she appeared in four episodes of 'Life' in 2007 and 2008, and she graced the set of 'Chelsea Lately', which is a late-night comedy show.

Unity in Rick and Morty

'Rick and Morty', a controversial but popular animated comedy created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, showcased Christina's vocal talents. She played Unity, a character who was billed as the perfect woman for Rick.

Elizabeth Bradshaw in 'Tin Star'

It took two years for us to see Christina Hendricks again in her first television role after 'Mad Men'. She played Elizabeth Bradshaw in 'Tin Star', created by Rowan Joffé and starring Tim Roth. Hendricks featured in a total of 20 episodes between the years 2017 and 202o.

Olivia Rogers in 'The Romanoffs'

In 2018, Christina Hendricks became Olivia Rogers for a total of eight episodes in the miniseries 'The Romanoffs', directed by Matthew Weiner, one of the creators of 'Mad Men'. The show centred on the supposed descendants of the Romanovs, the Russian tsars who were murdered in 1918.

Beth Boland in 'Good Girls'

That same year, Christina Hendricks joined the cast of 'Good Girls' as the main protagonist, playing the role of Beth Boland, a mother of four children and a housewife. Her husband, a car salesman, cheats on her, prompting her to become a criminal.

Canceled after four seasons

In June 2021, NBC announced the cancellation of 'Good Girls' after four seasons. The series said goodbye with a double episode, marking the end of one of Christina's greatest ever roles.

Her movie roles since 'Mad Men'

We have been able to see Christina Hendricks in 'Dark Places' (2015); 'The Neon Demon' and 'Bad Santa 2' in 2016; 'Fist Fight', 'Crooked House' and 'Pottersville' in 2017; and 'The Strangers: Prey at Night', 'American Woman' and 'Egg' in 2018. She also voiced Gabby Gabby in 'Toy Story 4' (2019).

New job with Kunal Nayyar

In the near future, we will be able to see her in 'The Storied Life of AJ Fikry', based on the bestseller by Gabrielle Zevin. She will co-star with Kunal Nayyar, who made his name in 'The Big Bang Theory'.

Her marriage to Geoffrey Arend ended in 2019

Currently, Hendricks is single. She divorced the American actor Geoffrey Arend in 2019, after a 12-year relationship.

What few people know is that she also appeared on the poster for 'American Beauty.' She explained: "That is my hand and the belly of another model. In any case, I am proud to be part of this film."

Stunningly beautiful

She has changed her image over the years, but she has always grabbed people's attention. She is blonde and started dyeing her hair red at just 10 years old to look like 'Anne of Green Gables'. In her adolescence, she was a goth and suffered bullying. In 2010, Esquire magazine chose her as the most beautiful actress of that year.

Not just a pretty face

Christina Hendricks has proven over the years her worth as an actress, as shown by her numerous nominations. In 2006, she won a SyFy Award after appearing on 'Firefly', and she has also won a Screen Actors Guild award for her work on 'Mad Men'.
