Jeremy Renner recalls what he thought were his last moments

In a very emotional interview with Diane Sawyer, Jeremy Renner recalled the horrible day on which he had his snowplow accident. In fact, the actor revealed, he really thought he was going to die.

"A horrible way to die"

"If I was there, on my own," he said, "that'd [have] been a horrible way to die. And surely I would've. Surely."

"Last words to my family"

Terrified of dying, he managed to write what he thought would be his last words on his phone. Bursting into tears, he recalled in his interview: "I'm writing down notes in my phone to -- last words to my family."

"I was awake through every moment"

"I was awake through every moment," he told Diane Sawyer. "But I would do it again. Yeah, I'd do it again -- because it was going right at my nephew," he said about the snowplow.

A heroic act brought Jeremy Renner to a near death

What the actor refers to, is the fact that the snowplow was not under his control at the moment of the accident and that it was headed straight toward his nephew. The only way the real ánd fictional superhero could save the child was to jump in front of the machine.

A near-supernatural recovery

Jeremy Renner's recovery is also something of a superhero story. Within three months after the accident that could have cost him his life, his mobility, and his legs, the actor is surprising everyone and walking again.

Working from day one to walk again

Renner shared his evolution in a video where he is seen walking with an anti-gravity treadmill. This machine submerges the lower part of his body, reducing his body weight. "I only feel 40% of my weight," he explained on Twitter.

Physical but also psychological

And while the actor continues his recovery on a physical level, he is not neglecting the mental and psychological treatment that this process requires. "I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will," Hawkeye's alter ego commented.

Evangeline Lily had low expectations

"I walked into his house with goosebumps because I expected to sit by his bedside and hold his hand, while he screamed in pain unable to move," the actress confessed in an interview for 'Access'.

Nothing could be further from the truth

"He was in a wheelchair, rolling around and laughing with his friends. It's a miracle," confesses Evangeline Lily, still amazed by her friend's tremendous evolution.

His accident was very serious

The near-death experience Evangeline Lily talks about was far more serious than many people would have imagined. The Nevada authorities' report had been made public, recounting what happened on that tragic day: January 1, 2023. It had left the actor in a serious condition.
