KISS guitarist Karl Cochran dies in freak accident caused by his mother
Karl Cochran, a guitarist known for his collaborations with the glam metal band KISS, passed away on February 19 at the age of 61.

The musician was a passenger in a car in New Jersey when it crashed at around 7:20 a.m., according to People magazine.

The musician's mother, 90-year-old Arna Chocran, was driving the vehicle when she crashed into a tree and he was thrown out of the car. "She backed the vehicle across the front yard and struck a tree, ejecting Cochran," Bridgewater police said in a statement.
The guitarist was airlifted to New Brunswick Hospital by state police.

However, the musician had suffered injuries that were "life-threatening," according to the official statement, and he died in the hospital.

Police said the accident is under investigation. They also asked the general public to contact authorities if they have more information.
For their part, KISS issued a statement mourning the loss of the musician. "He was loved by our fans through his appearances worldwide and was a constant inspiration as our guest on our KISS Kruises," the band said in a statement on social media.

According to the statement, Cochran was a person passionate about music. Despite having suffered a stroke, he fought to return to the stage. "Karl was a vocalist and guitarist extraordinaire who suffered a massive stroke but never stopped fighting to make his way back," the group added.
Bruce Kulick, former guitarist of the group, also dedicated a few words to the deceased guitarist and praised his humor and passion for life. "everyone that met him was touched with his smile and his special passion of life," he said.

The band's statement, as well as Kulick's, sent condolences to Cochran's family, including his fiancée, Geri Fasano.
