Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are often thought of as the perfect couple thanks to all their years starring on 'I Love Lucy.' However, the couple who married in 1940 had significant marriage troubles.
In fact, in 1944, Lucille filed for divorce after just four years of marriage due to Desi's drinking problems and cheating ways.
But the couple soon reconciled before the divorce became official...it wasn't an easy relationship, but they were in love.
'Biography' wrote that thanks to their separation, the couple grew closer and began to spend more time together, and that is how 'I Love Lucy' was born.
The iconic sitcom so many know and love aired from 1950-1957. A few years after the show ended, Desi and Lucy divorced in 1960.
The movie features some pretty big Hollywood actors, not only do we have Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem....
...but also: Jake Lacy ('The White Lotus') as Bob Carroll Jr., an 'I Love Lucy' writing partner; J.K. Simmons ('Whiplash') as actor William Frawley, who played Fred Mertz on 'I Love Lucy'; Nina Arianda ('Midnight in Paris') as actress Vivian Vance, who played Ethel on 'I Love Lucy.'
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz had two children together: Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. Their children were on board with the film about their parents and even partook in the process as the executive producers.
Lucie Arnaz took to Instagram to praise 'Being the Ricardos' and called the film "amazing" and added that Aaron Sorkin had "captured the heart of my mother, my father, their relationship."

Arnaz went on to say that Nicole Kidman "became my mother's soul" and that Javier Bardem "has my father's wit, charm, and musicality."

Many critiqued the idea of choosing Kidman for the role of Lucille Ball, and some fans said that Debra Messing should have gotten the part. However, Lucie Arnaz was quick to defend Kidman as being right for the role.
Arnaz made a statement which she shared in a video on Facebook saying, "We're not doing a remake of I Love Lucy. No one has to impersonate Lucy Ricardo [or do] any of the silly things. It's the story of Lucille Ball, my actual mother—not Lucy Ricardo—and her husband, Desi Arnaz, my dad—not Ricky Ricardo."
The trailer for the film shows a rather convincing interpretation of the famous Hollywood couple, both from Kidman as Lucy and Bardem as Desi. There is only one way to find out, head to the cinema or tune into Amazon Prime on December 21st and check out 'Being the Ricardos.'
