18 years of marriage

Superstar P!nk and her husband, Carey Hart, have been married for 18 years as of 2024 and she summarized the journey perfectly in a truthful and candid post on social media, remembering the rocky road that has led them to this moment.

18 years… of ups and downs

Pink and her motor-cross husband, Carey Hart share two children, are still going strong, despite not having had an easy run. She wrote, "Love is a lifetime of coming back to the table. We almost didn't make it to this one, well a couple of them, if I'm being honest."

The story of P!nk

American pop star P!nk (born September 8, 1979) made headlines last year with a new, candid documentary about her daily life which also gave us further insight into her relationship with her husband and balancing family and work life.

Husband Carey: a freestyle motorcross champion

Her husband, Carey Hart is a professional freestyle motocross competitor from Las Vegas. He is perhaps best known, not only for his appearances on reality TV and his tattoo parlour, but also for becoming the first motorcyclist to perform a back flip on a 250cc motorcycle during a competition. Impressive.

'Live together or kill each other'

P!nk and Carey have been married since 2006. They first met at the Summer X Games in 2001 and started dating. The singer has always been interested in motocross. Pink put on Instagram that the following four years they spent “deciding if we were going to live together forever or kill each other.”

A rocky road

In 2003 the couple had a brief separation but two years later they got engaged. It was P!nk who proposed to her husband, holding a sign up at one of his races. They then got married in Costa Rica in 2005. Afer that, once again, relationship issues started to arise.

Best friends?

In 2008 they broke up. This time it was going to be permanent and even divorce was on the cards. On the singer’s website she wrote, “The most important thing for you all to know is that Carey and I love each other so so much. This breakup is not about cheating, anger, or fighting. I know it sounds like cliché bull****, but we are best friends, and we will continue to be.”

Reconciliation

In the same year, while P!nk was filming her music video for 'So What,' she called her estranged husband and asked him to appear in the clip. He did. It wasn’t long after that the couple’s relationship reconciliation was made public and she even told their fans that they were working through the problems with a marriage counsellor.

Honest words

P!nk said recently of her journey with her husband: "We've really grown up together. When you first get together, you look at that person as your entire world. One person can't be your entire world. You have to have your own passions, your own friends, your own time to yourself. I used to be super needy. Now we expect less of each other, and that allows us to give each other more somehow."

Willow

Almost famous in her own right, Willow is P!nk’s eldest child. She was announced to the world in June 2011. On her Twitter account, P!nk wrote, “We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart… She’s gorgeous, just like her daddy.”

Her name was inspired by a willow tree from mum’s childhood

She told Hello! Magazine, “I grew up near one… It is the most flexible tree and nothing can break it — no wind, no elements. It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment and I want that for her.”

Mother and daughter duo

In February 2021, P!nk released a video of her new single 'Cover me with Sunshine,' where the mother-daughter duo can be seen spending a day on a farm, collecting chicken eggs, riding horses and generally smiling and loving each other a lot. It is completely endearing and speaks volumes about the change of life since the pandemic.

Quarantine-inspired

Pink writes in the lyrics that she's looking forward to when quarantine is over and life returns to normal. "I've been dreaming of friendly faces / I got so much time to kill / Just imagine people laughing / I know some day we will / And even if it's far away / Give me through another day.” Hear. Hear.

Jameson

When she announced Willow’s birth, the Grammy Award winning singer posted a photo of her new baby boy. In December 2016 she wrote, “Jameson Moon Hart 12.26.16,”. As sweet as his sister, he now has the most amazing blonde locks.

Hands-on dad and mum

P!nk has often gushed about how good a father Carey is to their children, but the artist is herself a proud mum. It takes some guts to post a photo breastfeeding but in 2016 P!nk felt the taboo issue needed to be addressed and, in honour of National Breastfeeding Week, posted a previously taken photo herself nursing baby Willow. ”In honor of #nationalbreastfeedingweek2016 I proudly post this photo of a very HEALTHY, NATURAL act between mother and child. Taken in Helsinki by a very supportive and proud Papa.”

Another family member

The celebrity couple lost Frangelica Hart, a beautiful and much loved dog, in 2018. Their best friend and family member was 16 years old. But they recently celebrated their newest family member, a little pup called Habañero Mountain Guy Kadashi Hart.

Always adopt, never shop

The family received wonderful responses from social media including adoption supporters commenting, “rescue pups are the best”. The singer has done a lot of animal activist work and supported PETA, including baring all other obligations for a photo shoot in support of the 'I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur' movement in 2015.

She didn’t have the best childhood herself

P!nk, born in 1979 as Alecia Beth Moore, is the daughter of divorced parents. Times were tough during her childhood, and she has often used this personal challenge in her song lyrics. In fact, many of her earliest songs were inspired by family problems. "I accept the challenge that kids are gonna be relating to me more so than a lot of people because I am telling the truth and I've been there," she told ABC News in 2003.

Pink dropped out of school and began singing in nightclubs

A ‘troubled teen’, she was called. She told Faze exactly how she felt about that: “The problem was, I was labelled as trouble–so I was like, ‘Trouble? I’ll show you trouble. You want trouble, well here it is!’” She began to abuse drugs and alcohol, which came to a head when Pink's friend, Stacey Coffey, overdosed and paid the highest price for it.

Taught early to make her own way

The morals in her house were simple and P!nk had to make her own way, finding jobs to maker ends meet on her own. She worked at Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Wendy’s and a petrol station. None of those jobs lasted too long. In fact she was fired from McDonald’s for eating too many burgers!

From pumping gas to pumping out hits

When she was younger, she joined an R&B band known as Basic Instinct, which never really took off and separated after two years of forming. She then started another R&B band called Choice but it didn’t get much further either. However, Pink was noticed and signed by the same record label who'd tried to lift Choice off the ground.

The origins of the name Pink

Once signed with the label, changed her stage name from Alecia to Pink. Most fans think that the name comes from the character Mr Pink in the film 'Reservoir Dogs,' but others say it has to do with a friend from school who once pulled down her pants. Apart from its first origins, there's also the question of the name's spelling. Is it Pink or P!nk? As it turns out, you can use both. Her name was stylized on her albums as P!nk but the original spelling was Pink.

An endless list of hits

Pink debuted her first album, 'Can’t Take Me Home,' in 2000. It was a total success. Since then, the singer has released an incredible variety of songs and collaborations which earned her the fame she enjoys today. Her rocky voice and carefree attitude has inspired and moved many people for nearly a whole generation. When interviewed by a 5-year-old, Pink said her personal favourite was the song 'Get The Party Started.'

A healthy bank credit

According to Celebrity NetWorth, P!nk’s estimated net worth was around $200 million in 2020. She has a beautiful home in California that has been described as a ‘colourful and unique mansion’ by Closer Weekly. She also has a $10,000 Marilyn Monroe painting and a range of vehicles, both motorcycles and cars. It even includes a bubblegum-pink smart car with her name painted on the side.

Many awards to her name

P!nk has sold over 47 million albums worldwide, including more than 16 million albums in the United States alone. With three Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, a Daytime Emmy Award and six MTV Video Music Awards, as well as the Pop Artist of the Decade Billboard award in 2009, P!nk really has had the most incredible career.

It doesn’t stop there

In 2015, P!nk received the BMI President’s Award for “her outstanding achievement in song-writing and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry.” It’s no surprise that the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s decade was also awarded the Billboard Woman of the Year Award in 2013 thanks her her undeniable hard work, philanthropy and honest tongue.

An Icon

The talented was the recipient of the Icon Award, which recognises "outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself.”

A frequent name in the Billboard charts

Billboard’s journalist Paul Grein explained why she was a clear choice for the award: "P!nk's last three studio albums—The Truth About Love (2012), Beautiful Trauma (2017) and Hurts 2B Human (2019)—have entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1. In addition, she has amassed four No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100: 'Lady Marmalade' with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mýa (2001), 'So What'' (2008), 'Raise Your Glass' (2010) and 'Just Give Me a Reason,' featuring Nate Ruess (2013).”

The Brits

Rag 'n' Bone Man and P!nk closed the curtain on the 2021 Brit Awards on Tuesday May 11 with a rendition of their new song: 'Anywhere Away From Here.' P!nk wasn’t physically present, but her performance was played on a large projector screen while her co-star sang live on stage. It was a show stopping, emotional moment for all, as it featured a large band and the NHS choir. Proceeds of the live version of this song would go to the NHS.

A live album

The track ‘All I Know So Far’ is included on P!nk’s first ever live album, ‘All I Know So Far: Setlist.’ The album is full of live versions of the hits the singer performed in the Beautiful Trauma World Tour (which the documentary focuses on), as well as some popular cover songs.

More music

The singer continues to give us hits, most referring to her own experiences and family relationships. 'All I know So Far' is a touching addition, summarising P!ink's thoughts on how to tackle obstacles that arise in life. Always reflective, she also posted in 2024 that 'she wears her scars proudly'.

Scars of marriage

"The family we've built and the stories we have weaved together and the memories we continue to make are worth more than a thousand million awards that anyone could give me," she wrote, referencing her husband and the road they have journeyed together.

Carey Hart is grateful

We also heard from Carey Hart who posted to celebrate their anniversary - again, in a candid (and funny?) post. He said, "22 years in each others' lives and I'm looking forward to the next 22. As long as you don't kill me first."
