South Korean singer Park Bo-ram's sudden death at 30

Park Bo-ram’s death on April 11 was not just shocking due to her passing at the young age of 30, but also due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death, where she was found unconscious during a night out, reports Allkpop.

Park Bo-ram is a South Korean singer who is, according to Channel News Asia, best known for singing for the soundtrack on the South Korean drama ‘Reply 1988’.

Born on March 1, 1994, in the Gangwon Province of South Korea, Park Bo-ram entered into showbusiness when she signed up for the Mnet reality TV competition, ‘SuperStar K2’.

According to M Wave, Park Bo-ram’s time on ‘SuperStar K2’ was a fruitful one, as she managed to cinch a Top 8 position out of hundreds of contestants and even earned praise from veteran korean singer Lee Seung-chul during her time on the show.

Newsen reports that Park Bo-ram’s time in ‘SuperStar K2’ had also changed her personally since gathering more attention in showbusiness, as the star had went through a drastic physical transformation by losing over thirty kilograms.

According to Allkpop, Park Bo-ram’s weight loss had even generated buzz in the K-pop world once, as she was likened to f(x)’s Sulli and Brown Eyed Girls’ Ga-in with her physical change.

Since her time on ‘SuperStar K2’, Park Bo-ram had signed onto some of South korea’s most reputable agencies such as Jellyfish Entertainment, and MMO Entertainment. Prior to her passing, she was signed onto with Xanadu Entertainment and Huayi Brothers.

After her time on ‘SuperStar K2’, Park Bo-ram released a single, ‘Beautiful’, which featured prominent South Korean rapper Zico in 2014.

‘Beautiful’ was a hit that year and landed Park Bo-ram the number 2 spot in the Gaon music charts.

Park Bo-ram’s songs had also landed her in the number 7 position in the Gaon music charts later in April 2015! She achieved this feat during the release of her album, ‘Celepretty’.

Despite her individual accomplishments as a singer, Park Bo-ram was better known for singing the soundtracks for some of K-entertainment’s most famous dramas, rather than her own individual released work.

Other than ‘Reply 1988’, Park Bo-ram has also sung songs for the soundtracks of ‘49 Days’, ‘Hyde Jekyll, Me’, and ‘Prison Playbook’.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Park Bo-ram had passed under mysterious circumstances that are still under investigation. According to Channel News Asia, she was found unconscious in the bathroom during a social visit to a friend.

Park Bo-ram was discovered unconscious by friends who went to check on her and was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Allkpop reports authorities have ordered an autopsy on her body to determine the exact cause of death.

Park Bo-ram was supposed to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her debut this year, but plans will not be fulfilled due to her untimely death, reports The Straits Times.
