The Best Food Cities in the world according to TasteAtlas
The TasteAtlas portal recently published the best cities to eat regional and national dishes of 2023.
The 100 best cities were chosen from their database of 16,601 cities all over the world, based on 271,819 votes.

The 100 cities where you can have the best meals in the world include Bangkok, Lima, Buenos Aires, Paris, Jakarta, Guadalajara, Hong Kong, and Vienna. Is your country represented in the ranking? Let's check out the top 20.

In the 20th position, we have the Peruvian capital, Lima, famous for its Ceviche (photo), Picarones, Tiraditos, Lomo Saltado, and Rice chaufa. And where to eat these delicious dishes? According to TasteAtlas, the best authentic places to eat these meals are La Mar Cebichería, Isolina Taberna Peruana, El Bodegon de Miraflores, Astrid y Gaston, and Rafael.
The 19th city on the list is Heraklion in Greece. You can eat dishes like Bougatsa (photo), Dakos, Galaktoboureko, Kleftiko, and Strapatsada there. Which restaurants excel in these authentic dishes? Peskesi, Gloria, Kirkor, Erganos, and Athali.
Bangkok, in Thailand, takes the 18th position. Its most famous dishes, according to TasteAtlas, are Pad Thai, Tom yum, Green Curry, Som tam, and Suki. Among the best places to enjoy these dishes are Por. Pochaya, Plu, TOOKPAK, Issaya Siamese Club, and The Family.
The capital of Georgia is in the 17th position. Its main dishes are Khinkali, Khachapuri, Kharcho, Badrijani, and Khashi. The best places to eat this food according to TasteAtlas are the restaurants Kneina, Funicular Complex, Salobie Bia, Amo Rame, and Zodiaqo.

In the 17th place is the Indonesian city of Surabaya, with typical plates like Rujak Cingur (photo), Rawon, Soto Lamongan, Pecel, and Bebek Goreng. Among the best authentic restaurants to eat these famous dishes are Soto Ayam Ambengan Pak Sadi, Soto Ayam Cak To, Bebek Goreng Papin, Rawon Pak Pangat, and Zangrandi Ice Cream.
We all know Paris is famous for its gastronomy. It could not be missing in this ranking, but 15th is a lower spot than we might expect. Dishes such as Crème brûlée (photo), Soupe à L’oignon, Foie gras, Crêpes, and Steak tartare are the highlights of its kitchens. Which restaurants serve the best versions of these plates? Les Petits Parisiens, Taillevent, Les Canailles Menilmontant, Les Canailles Pigalle, and Le Pantruche.

Argentina is located on the 14th spot in this ranking. What to eat in Buenos Aires? Well, we could try its famous Meat Grill, or maybe a Provoleta, Milanesa, Medialunas, and Chimichurri. Among the best authentic places to have these delicious plates are Don Julio, Heladería Cadore, Güerrin, El Cuartito, and La Mezzetta.

The capital of China is to be expected in this ranking, as it is famous for dishes like Peking duck (image), Zhajiangmian, Hot pot, Shaobing, and Kung pao chicken. It comes in 13th place. Restaurants like Xin Rong Ji, Beijing Da Dong, Din Tai Fung Beijing, Baoyuan Dumplings Restaurant, and Pangmei Noodles, are among the best places to eat these tasty plates.
Mexico is another country famous for its gastronomy. In this case, Guadalajara was ranked in the 12th place according to TasteAtlas. What could we eat in Guadalajara? We could have Torta Ahogada (photo), Beef in its own juice, Bionico, Quesadilla, and Birria. Once you get to Guadalajara, the best authentic restaurants to have this food are Kamilos 333, Tortas Toño, Karne Garibaldi Santa Tere, El Sacromonte, and Birreria Las 9 Esquinas.
In the 11th place in the TasteAtlas ranking comes the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. Dishes like Nasi Uduk, Gado-Gado, Soto Betawi, Bubur Ayam (photo), and Bakso are among the most famous, and the top places to eat them are 1945 Restaurant, Lapo Marpadotbe, Bandar Djakarta, Rumah Makan Marannu, and Asinan Betawi H. Mansyur.
Indonesia returns in the ranking on the 10th place. The city of Bandung is famous for Batagor, Mie kocok (Photo), Cireng, Siomay, and Nasi kuning. Where can we go to taste one of these dishes? Well, according to TasteAtlas, among the most authentic restaurants to eat this food are Warung Nasi Ibu Imas 81, Lemper Purnama, Baso Tahu Mang Ade, Serabi Kinca Suji - Eka Rasa, and Batagor Yunus.
In Turkey, and in the 9th place of the ranking, we find the city of Gaziantep. It's famous for dishes like Gaziantep baklavası, Katmer (Photo), Yuvarlama çorbası, Alinazik kebab, and Beyran çorbası. The restaurants serving the best versions of these plates in Gaziantep are Baklavacı Çelebioğulları, Metanet Lokantası, Ünal Et Lokantası, İmam Çağdaş Kebap ve Baklava Salonu, and Baklavaci Zeki İnal.
The first Italian city to make it into the ranking, on the 8th place, is Turin. Among its famous foods are Gianduiotto, Pizza al padellino (image), Grissini, Aperitivo, and Bonèt. The best places to have one of these dishes are Osteria Antiche Sere, Libery Pizza & Artigianal Beer, L'Acino, Al Gatto Nero, and SestoGusto.
This Chinese city is famous for plates like Har gow, Chinese BBQ pork, Wonton noodles, Crispy fried chicken, and Sweet and sour pork. It was ranked in 7th place, and among the most authentic restaurants to have these meals are Wang Fu, Lung King Heen, Shang Palace, Summer Palace, and Man Wah.
Once again, the Asian continent ranks highly in this list of best Food Cities. In 6th place, we find the Japanese city of Osaka. Its famous dishes are Shabu-shabu (photo), Takoyaki, Kushiage, Okonomiyaki, and Yakisoba. Where to eat them? Check out the restaurants Sushi Ohata, Okonomiyaki Chitose, Sushi Harasho, Sushi Marumine, and Oryori Amenimomakezu, according to TasteAtlas.

Another Japanese city in this ranking, this time in the 5th place. Among its famous dishes are Sashimi, Sushi, Yakitori, Yakiniku, and Miso Soup. As TasteAtlas recommends, the most authentic places to enjoy these meals are Nihombashi Kakigaracho Sugita, Nishiazabu Taku, Nihonryōri Seizan, TenTempura Uchitsu, and Tonkatsu Keita.

We find this enchanting Austrian city in the 4th place of the TasteAtlas ranking. Vienna is famous for dishes such as Wiener Schnitzel, Apfelstrudel, Topfenstrudel, Krapfen, and Kaiserschmarrn (photo). The most authentic places to eat these plates are Gasthaus Grünauer, Gasthaus Woracziczky, Stasta, Restaurant Eckel, and Figlmüller.

And, getting closer to the first position, we have Naples in the 3rd place with plates like Pizza Margherita, Sfogliatella, Zeppole, Taralli, and Pasta e Patate. Its best restaurants include Pizzeria Starita a Materdei, Antica Trattoria e Pizzeria da Donato, Gino e Toto Sorbillo, 50 Kalò, and Antico Forno delle Sfogliatelle Calde Fratelli Attanasio.
In the 2nd place of the ranking, we find yet another Italian city. Bologna is famous for tasty dishes such as Tagliatelle al ragù alla Bolognese (image), Tortellini in Brodo, Lasagne alla Bolognese, Cotoletta alla Bolognese, and Tiramisù. Among the most authentic restaurants to taste these meals are Trattoria di Via Serra, Sfoglia Rina, Cremeria Santo Stefano, Cremeria Funivia, and Donatello.
Italy appears to have dominated this ranking, taking the third, second, ánd first place! TasteAtlas voters determined that Rome is the Best Food City of the year, with dishes like Pasta Carbonara (photo), Pizza al Taglio, Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, and Panna Cotta. So when you get to Rome, where should you reserve a table? TasteAtlas recommends La Tavernaccia da Bruno, Colline Emiliane, Trattoria Pennestri, Trapizzino, and Gelateria Frigidarium.
