The incredible price - and characteristics! - of Cher's mansion

Showbiz media have marveled over the legendary Malibu mansion that Cher recently put up for sale. The asking price is really something else.

The actress bought her Malibu, California home in 1989 for 2.95 million dollars, TMZ read in the property registry.

Cher can make an amazing profit if she manages to sell her house for the asking price. Which is... 85 million dollars!

What can you get for that price, you ask? Well, Cher's 75,000-square-foot property sits atop the Malibu cliffs, making the views out of this world.

We are talking about a property with 24/7 surveillance that allows you to enjoy the entire Malibu coast, from Point Dume to Santa Monica, including Catalina Island. A marvel.

As for the mansion, it has more than 3,000 square meters (33,000 square feet) of living space, including seven huge rooms renovated by the prestigious interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, according to 'The Hollywood Reporter.'

In the 1990s, according to Vanity Fair, the property was redecorated and renovated by constructor Wallace Tutt III and designer Ron Wilson. Both will surely remember the diva's requests.

The problem the buyer will find is that the mansion is tailored to Cher's personal tastes. And these tastes are, well, very peculiar.

For example, the rooms have been redecorated with limestone and marble imported from France and Italy, with hand-forged bronze doors, Spanish and Moroccan hardware, and tiles.

Added to this is an 18th-century Venetian marble balustrade purchased from the collection of William Randolph Hearst at San Simeon. 'Architectural Digest' dedicated an entire article to the mansion.

Obviously, if the rooms are striking, the entrance is even more so. It has limestone block walls, giant bronze gates, and panels carved in India. The house is a great Tower of Babel with materials from half the world.

The kitchen is what any chef in the world would want. Spacious, customized, and with high-end Wolf appliances, 'Architectural Digest' says.

And, of course, the crown jewel is the master bedroom, a custom-made Cher sanctuary with a sitting area, walk-in closets, and a panic room.

The mansion also has a magnificent guest house, an infinity pool, a gym, and a tennis court.

And that's it? Of course not. We couldn't forget the glorious air-conditioned wig room where Cher neatly and perfectly stores around a hundred wigs that she wears every day. For the visitor, it's probably halfway between creepy and glorious.

Given all its architectural and decorative virtues, the question remains whether someone will pay 85 million dollars for it. Apparently, it is complicated.

Cher already put this house up for sale in 2009, for 45 million dollars, and she could not find any buyer. Earlier, in 1998, she had offered it for sale for 4.5 million dollars - also without luck. So it may really be a tough sale this time.
