Meghan and Harry scrutinized: former employees and neighbors speak out
Vanity Fair magazine has done an exposé on the life of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. In it, some of the couple's employees have spoken about the pressures they experienced working for them. However, they also defend some aspects of the couple.
One of the magazine's sources says that working for Meghan Markle meant having good days at first and bad days when things didn't go according to plan.
"Because she's constantly playing checkers — I'm not even going to say chess — but she's just very aware of where everybody is on her board. And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment," the source explains to Vanity Fair. However, Jane Marie, a producer who has worked with Markle, said that the duchess is a "just a lovely, genuine person."
The Duchess of Sussex's demands became so great that one of the employees of the 'Archetypes' podcast had to take a leave of absence after working on three episodes. He later ended up leaving the project.

Other ways of coping with the demands included taking long days off or going to extended therapy sessions.
"I think if Meghan acknowledged her own shortcomings or personal contributions to situations rather than staying trapped in a victim narrative, her perception might be better," explained one of Markle's staffers.
Despite her attitude, the source explained that Markle thanked at least one of the people who had a hard time at work. The employee who had a "terrible" experience received a handwritten thank-you note and a gift from Markle.
Despite her experience, the source expressed disbelief at the tabloid reports. After working with Markle, she explained that some of her behavior matched the descriptions. However, she didn't confirm that Markle yelled at her staff, as some outlets had reported.
Still, the source said: "You can be yelled at even if somebody doesn't raise their voice. (It's) funny that people don't differentiate between the energy of being yelled at and literally somebody screaming at you," she told the magazine.
Despite mixed feelings about Meghan, there seems to be a consensus about how difficult it was to create the podcast with the couple. "They wanted to make sure their version of events was out there too," explained a former Spotify employee.
At the same time, one person suggested, it seemed that Prince Harry had no interest in the job at Spotify. "He looks like the kind of guy who would, frankly, happily work for charities for the rest of his life and would be very happy if Meghan made all the money and he didn't need to," they told the magazine.
One of Meghan's employees said that, because of the way the prince was raised, he doesn't know what he wants. "I think Harry doesn’t know what he wants, because he grew up in a fishbowl, and so he doesn't know what real life really is," she said.
Despite their best efforts to maintain a clean image, the magazine explains that the duke and duchess have become "local villains". This is because their presence in Montecito, California, has caused the housing prizes to rise.
According to Vanity Fair, Markle has used two homes in Montecito. The first is where they live, while the second was used for her Netflix project, 'Love, Meghan.'

One neighbor expressed his disdain for the couple. He believes they are some of the most "disingenuous people on the planet."
"They moved away from England to get away from the scrutiny of the press, and all they do is try and get in the press in the United States," the neighbor told Vanity Fair.
Even though most of the views on their personalities are negative, most people who spoke to Vanity Fair said the couple appeared to be deeply in love.
"They are so hot for each other," one of the sources said. "Like, you know how you meet those couples where you're like, the way they're looking at each other, I should probably not be here right now?"
In addition, the source claims that Harry is being looked after and educated by Meghan. "I don’t want to be like, oh, it's an Oedipus thing or whatever, but it kind of feels like she's re-parenting him in a way," the source added.
But love is not everything in their lives, especially when dealing with people who, according to the couple, do not meet their high expectations. Although their employees tried to implement the couple's vision of the world, not everything was possible and the pressure was high. "You can't say no. I left because I couldn't stand it anymore," she explained.
Although the couple's professional ups and downs have been many, Markle continues to strive to get her projects off the ground. "I think there's one thing that no one could take away from Meghan, [it] is how hard she works, how much effort goes into everything that she does," a source told Vanity Fair.
