Our top anticipated shows

What does 2025 have for us on the small screen? From reimagined classics to book adaptations; superheroes to new seasons… Take a look at our most eagerly anticipated shows of 2025.

Daredevil: Born Again: Disney +, March 4

Daredevil returns as part of Marvel's interconnected cinematic universe. We will see a handful of cast members from the original series, like Vincent D'Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. The welcome return of Hell’s Kitchen’s favorite blind vigilante will be on Disney+ in March.

Doctor Who: BBC and Disney Plus, 2025

It's season two for Ncuti Gatwa and season 40 for Dr Who. After striking a deal with Disney, the BBC and Ncuti Gatwa's energetic and endearing Fifteenth Doctor will be back for another full season in 2025, with Russell T. Davies in charge. But of course, we are all expecting a Christmas special first.

Missing You: Netflix, January 1

After being Ghosted on a dating app, detective Kat Donavan learns that her ex has been visiting her father's killer in prison. ‘Missing You’ is likely to be another success. However, it is going to be difficult to top the success of Harlan Coben's 2024 hit 'Fool Me Once' which has sneaked into the charts of most watched Netflix shows of all time.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth: Sky/NOW, January 2

After the death of his daughter in the Pan Am explosion over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, Dr. Jim Swire, played by Colin Firth, travels across continents and political divides in the search for justice... But at what price?

Adolescence: Netflix, 2025

A family's world is turned upside down when a 13-year-old is arrested for murdering a schoolmate. This new British crime drama on Netflix will be released at some point in 2025 but we don’t have an actual release date yet. Stephan Graham stars in this four-part series, using a one-shot filming style.

Miss Austen – February, BBC One

2025 marks Jane Austen's 250th birthday. So the BBC is celebrating with a new four-part drama, Miss Austen. This show focuses on her relationship with her sister. It is a fascinating, witty, and heart-breaking story of sisterly love.

Reacher season 3: Prime Video, February 20

Big Jack is back in the adaptation of the book ‘Persuader’. A couple of faces are set to return for the first two seasons, including Nealy and Finlay. This time Reacher meets his match with Man Mountain Paulie as an old face from the past returns.

The White Lotus Season 3: HBO, February

Traveling to Thailand this season, the writers of this successful series give us another beautiful luxury dramedy tale. Fans of the series will be chuffed.

Ironheart: Disney+, June 24

Another Marvel series is coming to the screen, this time featuring Dominique Thorne in six episodes as Riri Williams. We met her in 2022’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and she’s looking to build a suit that rivals that of ‘Ironman’. We expect good things considering filming took nearly two years!

The Last of Us, Season 2: Sky/NOW, Spring 2025

Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are over 20 years into their pandemic hell. Society has collapsed around them and zombie-like creatures are spreading a gruesome fungal infection as far as possible. The eagerly awaited season 2, follows Joel and Ellie five years after the events of season one.

The Death of Bunny Munro – Sky/NOW, 2025

This six-part Sky Original adaptation of Nick Cave’s novel 'The Death of Bunny Munro' sees Matt Smith star in the titular role. After his wife’s self-chosen death, the door-to-door beauty product salesman and unscrupulous seducer Bunny Munro finds himself stuck with a young son. Together with his child, he embarks on an increasingly out-of-control road trip across England as the two battle with their grief in very different ways.

Black Mirror season 7: Netflix, 2025

What to expect from a seventh season of Charlie Brooker’s dark, satirical anthology? The unexpected, of course. This series continues to blow our minds and the unique stories are what keep us coming back for more.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: HBO, 2025

Yes, it is another spin-off from the hugely successful ‘Game of Thrones’. ‘House of the Dragon’ is receiving mixed responses, so let’s hope this tale, based on Ser Duncan the Tall and his journey to becoming commander of the Kingsguard, will do better.
