Found dead on his couch: the passing of rapper Rich Homie Quan

The rap world is once again in mourning, this time with the unexpected and mysterious death of rapper Rich Homie Quan.

The 34-year-old artist from Atlanta, Georgia joins a list of rappers who have died in recent years.

Rich Homie Quan died of causes yet unknown, according to TMZ, the media outlet that gave the exclusive.

Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was lying on the couch when his girlfriend, Amber Williams, saw him and threw a blanket over him to keep him warm.

Amber Williams returned home after taking her son to school and noticed that Rich Homie Quan had not moved an inch. She feared the worst and called the police.

TMZ has had access to that call. The rapper's partner told the 911 operated that she had touched Rich Homie Quan and: "I don’t feel a heartbeat. I don’t see him breathing..." She also noticed foam in his mouth.

The description was sufficiently alarming for the authorities to go to the home immediately along with emergency medical services. However, they couldn't do anything for the young man - only certify the death and take him to the Fulton County morgue.

A musical talent has passed away. Rich Homie Quan made hits such as 'Flex' and 'Ride Out', winner of a platinum record. He was an emerging and established figure in rap from 2013 onward.

In fact, Rich Homie Quan joined Young T h u g on the 'Rich Gang' project and he also collaborated with people like Jacquees and 2 Chainz.

According to the New York Times, after the release of his single 'Type of Way', Rich Homie Quan was part of "Atlanta’s rising generation of rappers." And they were right.
