Top grossing films of 2024 (so far)

If there's one thing the 2024 box office has revealed, it's that sequels work wonders. In fact, the first six films in the ranking are sequels to legendary sagas, but do you know which are the highest-grossing films of the year?

Gross - $1.045 billion - It was one of Pixar's most popular films, but no one expected the arrival of Puberty and Co. to push its gross to over $1 billion.

Gross - $712 million - Denis Villeneuve's magnum opus has taken the box office by storm and threatens to do the same at the Oscars. A spectacular revision of the 80s classic, despite a moody Timotheé Chalamet.

Gross - $240 million - Really, no one knew how Garfield would perform in the cinema, but it has performed better than expected. Let there be no doubt that there will be more of the lasagna-eating cat coming our way.

Box office - 202 million dollars - Little by little, the Ghostbusters are back and, for this film, with a changing of the guard. Not a bad return with a more or less estimable box office.

Gross - $185 million - A pleasant surprise for anyone who has ever had an imaginary friend. Ryan Reynolds is still in fine form, turning everything he touches into gold.

Box office - $179 million - The King of Reggae is a legend and this biopic has surprised fans and newcomers, giving an insight into the late great Marley music.

Gross - $175 million - This romantic comedy deserved more love. Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling give us pure on-screen chemistry, but even they didn't make the film profitable.

Gross - $171 million - If we think that Furiosa had a budget of $168 million, not counting promotion, we can take it as a box office failure. That doesn't take away from the fact that it's enjoyable and that Anya Taylor-Joy is a tremendous Furiosa.

Box office - $153 million - A classic: Jason Statham delivering the goods, a $40 million investment, some promotion and grossing four times that amount. Now that's good business.

Gross - $122 million - A24's most expensive film in history has turned a profit and, what's more, has a chance of sweeping the Oscars.
