Only ten years old?

2014 doesn’t seem like that long ago - or does it feel like a different life? Have a look at these songs which will surely jog some memories of where you were and who you were with as they were blaring through the speakers … but can you believe they are now ten years old?

'Happy' - Pharrell Williams

The theme tune to the 'Minions' film and the theme tune to many of our slightly more bizarre moments in life when we broke out into dance. A huge hit of 2014, who couldn't still dance along ten years later, clapping along and feeling like a room without a roof?

'All About that Bass' - Meghan Trainor

This song had everything to make it a success: female empowerment, a great play on words, a fabulously catchy bass line, and, of course, a woman with attitude. What did it not have? No treble.

'Wiggle' - Jason Derulo

"You know what to do with that big fat bu**… Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle."

The bass and riff that dropped in after the lyrics above were catchy enough and perhaps even likable. The rest of the song… is funny, let's keep it at that.

'Trumpets' - Jason Derulo

A second 2014 hit for the American singer. This one was an absolute Summertime winner. Although, not sure how many women would feel having a song written about them, comparing them to how they remind them of other celebrities…

'Shake it off' - Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift was already a global star by 2014. This song propelled her to another level. It was pure fun, feel-good and with a memorable music video to boot. Overplayed? Definitely. But it made her a fortune, earning an impressive $84,000 per week on Spotify alone.

'Problem' - Ariana Grande

"Everybody has trouble with confidence these days. All these young girls hate themselves, and these women have horrible relationships with men. And men too! We all go through it. 'Problem' is such an ['I don't care'] song that makes everybody feel great," said the artist herself.

'Chandelier' - Sia

The Australian singer-songwriter has churned out hit after hit but this is certainly one of the most memorable. Billboard listed 'Chandelier' as the best song of 2014 and the song received nominations at the 57th Grammy Awards for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance, with its video receiving a nomination for Best Music Video.

'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' - Paloma Faith

Big in its day and bigger just a few years ago when internet memes created a resurgence of the hit. British singer, Paloma Faith, got this song to number 6 in the UK charts. It's great for a round of karaoke.

'Bailando' - Enrique Iglesias

The longest-running No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. It was a massive hit across the world. Iglesias said himself to Billboard, "You never know where a hit is going to come from. There’s just something about this song."

'All of Me' - John Legend

The piano ballad inspired by his wife, Chrissy Teigen has become one of the most popular first-dance wedding tunes of the decade. It speaks to many about being loved the way you are. Tear-jerker.

'Let it Go' - Frozen

Can you believe ten years have passed since Queen Elsa decided to stop being held back and release her inner powers? Idina Menzel, Broadway star, voiced the character and there wouldn't have been a better vocal for the song that would be sung for years by children and adults alike.

'Timber' - Pitbull ft Kesha

"It's going down, I'm yelling timber," was sung at the top of voices in the club. Released at the end of 2013, people were shouting Timber until way into the end of 2014 and beyond...

'Wake Me Up' - Avicii

'Wake Me Up' has been named as the highest charting dance track of the 2010s by DJ Magazine. The single has peaked at number one in 22 countries to date and never got old.

'Wrecking Ball' - Miley Cyrus

What a music video! The singer took the metaphor, well, literally, and sat atop a wrecking ball scantily clad. The world loved it - but perhaps they loved Anne Hathaway's Lip Sync Battle even more... (If you haven't seen it, it's a must.)

'Blurred Lines' - Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams

Finally, a song that caused an awful lot of controversy. The lyrics are creepy... and the music video is creepy. Twenty universities in the United Kingdom banned the song from their campuses for its content.
