A strange love triangle: Michael Jordan's son dating Scottie Pippen's ex
There was a time when Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were inseparable. They were the two great stars of those historic Chicago Bulls of the six rings in the 90s. However, the 2020 documentary called 'The Last Dance', in which Pippen did not appear as great as Jordan, ended their friendship forever.
Since the release of the documentary, things have been tense between the stars. We can see that in their memoirs or in interviews with various media. Yet, things can always get worse, and that is something that good old Scottie Pippen would surely agree with.
The reason? The former Bulls forward has learned that Jordan's second son, Marcus, has a romantic relationship with his wife of 23 years and mother of his four children, Larsa Pippen.
Rumors of a possible courtship between Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen began to make headlines in September 2022, when TMZ Sports published several images in which they were photographed together in a Miami restaurant.
"Eyewitnesses tell us they were there for about 45 minutes, and that there were no obvious signs of PDA between them," TMZ reported. "However, our sources say Larsa seemed to be trying to keep a low profile and got a little skittish when she realized folks had spotted her/were taking pics."
However, a few days after the publication of those photographs, Larsa Pippen denied the news: "I'm not dating Marcus Jordan, we're just friends."
Undeterred, TMZ would not take long to come up with new images. This time on video, the couple was seen at Rolling Loud in New York. They were dancing close together and seemed very affectionate.
Larsa Pippen had already been linked to other men close to the world of basketball, such as Bronny James, son of Lebron James and a current Los Angeles Lakers player. The two had exchanged comments and emojis on his Instagram account.
She has also been linked to Minnesota Timberwolves player Malik Beasley. However, Larsa Pippen herself says that there is no truth to any of these rumors.
In the case of Marcus Jordan, things would go differently. Four months after Larsa Pippen declared that they were "just friends," Jordan made his relationship with Scottie Pippen's ex 'Instagram official.' He posted a video in which they kissed and wrote: "Twistin’ up my fingers for my twin."
Then, Larsa Pippen followed. Before an Instagram following of 4.6 million, she published an image of the couple posing with the mythical Chicago Bulls 23 shirt in the background. They were together at an event at Michael Jordan's shoe store in Orlando.
The image seemed to have a direct message to her ex-husband. "Reviewed on stripes," it said, referring to the symbols of Nike and Adidas, the two brands that have always sponsored Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, respectively.
Since the rumors of the new couple started, several media outlets have criticized them. One reason is the age difference between the two. Larsa is 17 years older than Marcus.
The other obvious reason is that the relationship could cause problems between the Pippen and Jordan families, who have known each other since Marcus was 7 years old.
Larsa and Scottie Pippen married in 1997. They separated and reconciled in 2016 and, finally, divorced in 2018. Over the course of their 23-year relationship, they had four children together: Scotty Jr. (2000), Preston (2002), Justin (2005), and Sophia (2008).
Larsa, a socialite and businesswoman with her own jewelry line, became famous in her own right for participating in the reality show 'The Real Housewives of Miami.' Since 2011, she has appeared in the show on numerous occasions. In addition, she's been in 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' due to her friendship with Kim Kardashian.
For his part, Marcus Jordan, the second son of Michael and Juanita Vanoy, tried to follow in his father's footsteps in the world of basketball. He never got further than the UCF Knights team at the University of Central Florida, where he graduated in the field of hotel management.
He is currently the founder and CEO of the Trophy Room, a high-end retail boutique inspired by the trophy room of the Jordan family residence. There, he sells his father's branded products.
Now, the two regularly boast about their love story on Instagram. Marcus published an image of Larsa on February 14, 2023, with the text "Happy Valentines Day, Babe," while she wrote in her account "My forever Valentine" next to an image of the two.
Their relationship can be followed through their Instagram accounts, where they publish many photos of themselves together at work or hanging out.
The relationship has generated a strange 'love triangle' that will surely sting Scottie Pippen. He may have been pushed away even further from his old friend Michael Jordan. On the other hand, who knows, over time the courtship may also bring the Pippen and Jordan families closer together...
