Fame is not for everyone

The stars in this list have now retired. Some of them because they had to, and many others because they were no longer interested in the industry.

Linda Blair

Her role in 'The Exorcist' made her famous, but she has rarely been seen on screen since the 1980s.

Edward Furlong

Furlong, who is best known for his role in 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', has struggled with personal and legal problems. He now prefers to live a quiet life.

Frankie Muniz

His role in the series 'Malcolm in the Middle' made him so famous that he was almost considered a character actor. In 2017, we saw him as a participant in 'Dancing With The Stars', although he prefers to be in the country making olive oil.

Rick Moranis

Famous for films such as 'Ghostbusters' and 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,' Moranis retired from acting in the early 1990s to devote himself to his family after the death of his wife.

Phoebe Cates

After her roles in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' and 'Gremlins', Cates retired from acting in the 1990s because, in her own words, she became tired of the job and decided to devote herself to her family.

Amanda Bynes

The teen star of the 1990s, best known for the series 'What I Like About You' and 'She's the Man', retired from acting in 2010. She has mostly appeared in the tabloid press due to numerous personal problems and substance abuse.

Freddie Prinze Jr.

Famous for his roles in films such as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'She's All That,' Prinze Jr. retired from acting in the 2010s to focus on his family and business.

Mara Wilson

The adorable little girl who wowed us in 'Matilda' and 'Mrs. Doubtfire' retired from acting in the 2000s to focus on her studies. She is also an activist for LGBTQ rights.

Jonathan Taylor-Thomas

Thomas, who became known for his role in the television series 'Home Improvement,' retired from acting in the 2000s to focus on studying and running a business.

Corey Feldman

We saw him grow up in 'The Goonies' and 'Stand by Me', but Feldman has had personal and legal troubles since then and stopped acting.

Geena Davis

Her best-known films were 'Thelma & Louise' and 'A League of Their Own'. Davis is now mostly an executive producer, behind the screen, and focuses on the cause of gender equality in the media.

Christopher Lloyd

Lloyd, best known for his role in the "Back to the Future' trilogy, has recently only appeared in a few projects and supporting roles.

Angus T. Jones

Jake from 'Two and a Half Men' grew up and decided at some point that the series did not align with his personal beliefs and preferences. So he quit acting. Just like that.

Linda Hamilton

The muscular heroine of 'The Terminator' has appeared in some series and films but also struggled with health problems. As a result, we haven't seen her on the screen very much.

Daniel Day-Lewis

A legendary actor with no fewer than three Oscars to his name, Daniel Day-Lewis decided one day that he had seen enough of the camera. He only returned to shoot a film with his son, the director Ronan Day-Lewis. It's called 'Anemone'.
