'I didn't want to divorce' - Ben Affleck about his marriage with Jennifer Garner
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were among the most followed couples in Hollywood. The two met on the set of 'Pearl Harbor' in 2001 and were married for ten years, from 2005 to 2015. Three children were born from their great love: Violet, Samuel, and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth.
While both now seem happy in their new lives, it was not an easy divorce at the time, especially for Affleck. At the time, the actor told 'Good Morning America': "I didn't want to get divorced, I didn't want to be a divorced person, I really didn't want to be a split family with my children," as People cites him.
More recently, on 'The Howard Stern Show,' the Oscar-winning actor said that the divorce was done "amicably. We did our best. Did we have moments of tension? Did we have disagreements over the custody? Was stuff difficult for us? Did we get angry? Yes," as cited by People.
Those who have followed their story even after the divorce know very well how much Ben Affleck is always at the forefront when it comes to praising his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. These are his words, reported by People: "I am a giant fan of Jennifer. She’s just a fabulous person. She’s just a wonderful person. She’s a great mother. She’s a real talent".
The praise for Jennifer Garner comes not only from her ex-husband Ben Affleck, but also from his current wife, Jennifer Lopez, who in a 2022 interview with Vogue declared that Garner was "an amazing co-parent, and they work really well together".
Ben Affleck admits that he has made many mistakes in the past, as the time he made a bad remark during an interview in Howard Stern's living room. Affleck then said: "I'd probably still be drinking. It's part of why I started drinking … because I was trapped," in reference to his marriage to Garner.
"I was like 'I can't leave 'cause of my kids, but I'm not happy, what do I do?' What I did was drink a bottle of scotch and fall asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution." These were Affleck's words to Howard Stern, released in December 2021 and reported by People.
The Hollywood star also wanted to clarify that he had meant nothing negative about Jennifer Garner with his remarks to Stern's microphone. Affleck claims his words were twisted by the media. On Eonline he emphasizes: "I don't blame my ex-wife for my alcoholism."
"I would never want my kids to think I would ever say a bad word about their mom," she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, according to People.
For her part, ex-wife Jennifer Garner said in an interview with Stellar Magazine: "I really work hard not to see either of us in the press. It doesn't make me feel good, even if it's something nice about one of us," according to BuzzFeed.
Today both Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have moved on, writing a new chapter in their lives. The two are happy again with their respective partners.
A few years after his divorce from óne Jennifer in 2018, Ben Affleck once again found love with another. And she was no other than his former flame, Jennifer Lopez.
After a first, "improvised" wedding in Las Vegas, the two officially got married on August 23, 2022, becoming one of the hottest couples of recent times.
It took Jennifer Garner a little longer to find peace of mind in a new romantic relationship, but now she seems happier than ever.
Her new partner is John Miller, a prominent businessman and lawyer. He's the CEO of CaliBurger and its parent company CaliGroup.
Compared to the couple Affleck-Lopez, Jennifer Garner and John Miller are much more discreet. It's really hard to find a photo of them together in the media.
