BLACKPINK's Lisa: Hit with Spain's Rosalía is featured in Kamala Harris' campaign

BLACKPINK's Lisa has definitely made her mark outside of K-pop with her ever increasing involvement in the US, with the latest being the the feature of her new song in US presidential candidate Kamala Harris' latest presidential campaign!

Lisa's song appeared in a TikTok reel belonging to the Democratic faction in US politics that featured a compilation of Kamala Harris' speech and personal background, showing her as a "transformative leader", reports Allkpop.

On the song in question: While still basking in the success of her latest hit, 'Rockstar', BLACKPINK's Lisa has released yet another new hit single, and this time with the pop songstress Rosalía!

Both Lisa and Rosalía have come together to release the song 'New Woman', which is reported by Pitchfork to not just feature the heavyweight Spanish singer, but also writing credits from big names such as Tove Lo, Max Martin, and Ilya.

'New Woman' is considered quite the exciting collaboration between Lisa and Rosalía, as the song mixes both English and Spanish and is slated to be another big hit after the success of Lisa's 'Rockstar', which was released just recently, reports Billboard.

It hasn't been long since BLACKPINK's Lisa released 'Rockstar', the rapper has scored high on music charts internationally, with topping ones in the UK and US, reports Soompi and The Korea Times.

This is a significant personal triumph for Lisa, as 'Rockstar' outperformed her prior solo releases, 'Lalisa' and 'Money', by reaching number one on the US Billboard chart.

2024 might indeed be Lisa's year, as the star's latest single release is just the cherry on top following Rolling Stone’s announcement earlier this year that she will star in HBO's 'The White Lotus'.

Lisa, also known as Lalisa Manobal, is a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK.

Lisa, born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram, Thailand, began her career as a dancer at a young age and was once a member of a Thai youth dance group, 'We Zaa Cool’, that included fellow Thai K-pop star Bam Bam, according to Yibada.

While still living in Thailand, Lisa had earned multiple achievements as a child for her dancing and singing skills.

The Independent reports that she won runner-up for a national singing contest while representing her school, and was also reported by Yibada to have won a Special Team Award while participating as ‘We Zaa Cool’ for a talent competition hosted by LG Entertainment.

Lisa's talents expanded beyond Thailand when she moved to South Korea at the age of 14 after passing YG Entertainment auditions. Stylecaster reports that she was the only applicant out of 4,000 who was offered a traineeship on the spot.

Lisa made history at YG Entertainment as the first Thai and ethnically non-Korean trainee accepted by the management company, according to Praew.

In 2016, South China Morning Post reported that Lisa had debuted in YG Entertainment’s new girl group, BLACKPINK, alongside fellow members Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé.

Since then, Blackpink has become one of K-pop’s biggest and most well-known girl groups.

As a group, Blackpink is known for their hits such as ‘Kill This Love’, ‘How You Like That’, and ‘Boombayah’.

As a group, Lisa, along with Blackpink, has won several honors, such as being placed on multiple Forbes lists and having the honor of visiting the Buckingham Palace in November 2023 alongside South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, reports Billboard.

The members of Blackpink have their own individual ventures. For one, each member has had their own solo album releases, including Lisa, and some, like Jisoo and Jennie, have ventured out into acting.

Lisa has released her own first solo album, titled ‘Lalisa’ in 2021. ‘Lalisa’ was a hit when it was released and managed to put Lisa on several Billboard charts! To date, she has three solo releases to her name.

Lisa has also launched her own agency, LLOUD, according to NME. This news follows the announcement that all Blackpink members will not renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment, despite the fact that the group is still active.

Lisa will be the latest member of Blackpink to venture out in the acting field. According to Rolling Stone, she has been cast in season 3 of HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’, which will be filmed in Thailand.

Variety reports that the casting of Lisa in ‘The White Lotus’ makes her the second BLACKPINK member to work in a HBO series. Jennie first worked in HBO’s ‘The Idol’ back in 2023.
