Celebrities who have had an accident (or two!) at home

Sometimes our own home can become a very hostile place. And it doesn't matter if it's a humble house or a palace, because the risks are the same. If we are talking about home accidents, the queen is Miley Cyrus, who, among other things, broke her arm after tripping over a pillow. She also fractured her coccyx in February 2012 trying to do a somersault on the sofa at home. But there are many more.

Miley Cyrus had another scare in April 2012, when she cut the index finger on her right hand while preparing dinner at her California mansion. The paparazzi snapped her entering the hospital with a bloody hand.

Quite often, famous people can find themselves doing things they don't usually do on a day-to-day basis. This could take place in the form of crafts and baking, or even worse, DIY. As what happened to Cate Blanchett, who cut her head with a chainsaw. In the end, it turned out to be a minor scare.

Orlando Bloom suffered a serious accident when he was 21 that left him unable to walk for a while. Specifically, he injured a few vertebrae while trying to climb up a pipe to a friends' rooftop terrace. He was subjected to surgery and was forced to undergo rehabilitation.

"All credit to Linda Graham for making the best oatmeal biscuits in the world and putting them in the freezer. And for getting her daughter to break a tooth trying to eat them," Ashley Graham said on Instagram after breaking a tooth trying to eat a biscuit her mother had baked.

The scare that designer Olivier Rousteing got in October 2020 was a real shock. "Exactly one year ago, the chimney inside my house exploded. I woke up the next morning at the Hôpital Saint Louis in Paris. The talented staff at that famous hospital, who were dealing with an incredible amount of COVID cases at the same time, took incredible care of me," he said on his Instagram profile.

In September 2014, Liza Minnelli partially broke her back. "I was holding my dogs, and they started jumping up and down. I tripped and fell. I thought it was nothing, but I was wrong. I'm having surgery next week. After x-rays it looks like I broke it and now they have to put the parts back together," she told The New York Post.

The 'Modern Family' actress had a bit of drama at home in May 2020. By her own admission to Access Hollywood, she cut off part of her left thumb one day while chopping tomatoes. She had to take that part of her finger and carry it to the hospital in a bag, but by mistake it ended up in the rubbish, from where it was rescued. It was finally stitched on after several shots were given.

According to Hollywood Life, Zac Efron didn't see a puddle at the entrance to his home and slipped, unluckily enough to fracture his jaw, requiring stitches in hospital.

In February 2014, Kylie Jenner ended up in hospital because of a trampoline 'fight' with her sister Khloé. "In the hospital thanks to Khloé Kardashian. My mum told me she never would have thought she would have had a trampoline accident at this age. This means we're at war, Khloé," were Kylie's words on Instagram.

Rosalía suffered a mishap with one of her hair straighteners. The consequence? She burnt her chin, but it seems not too badly.

Demi Lovato fractured her fibula after slipping on a wet floor she had just mopped herself. Her 'bad foot' led to her having to cancel several concerts.

"I almost broke my right leg and left ankle in a silly fall from a small bridge at home," Spanish singer Julio Iglesias wrote on his Instagram profile in the summer of 2020. After that, he had to spend some time on bed rest and undergo rehabilitation.

In 2009 Valentino Rossi tripped while closing some curtains and fell on a glass table, cutting both his left hand and the sole of his left foot.

In August 2020, Simon Cowell also had back problems. What happened to him? He was testing an electric bike in the courtyard of one of his homes and fell, unluckily enough to break several parts of his back.

"I just realised how much I use this finger, but it's still there, I just can't use it now. The moral of the story is that you don't realise how much you need something until you lose it," wrote Tatiana Blatnik (wife of Prince Nicholas of Greece) in February 2021 after cutting off the thumb of her left hand while cooking.

In January 2016, former Argentine President Mauricio Macri fractured a rib in a domestic accident. The incident happened while he was playing with his daughter Antonia.

In November 2020, Joe Biden cracked a bone in his foot while playing with one of his dogs, a German shepherd named Major.

In August 2021, Mexican singer Vicente Fernández was admitted to hospital in Guadalajara after suffering an unfortunate fall at home that injured his neck and spinal cord. After emergency surgery, which led to respiratory deterioration... he eventually died in December 2021.

Queen Silvia of Sweden fractured her right wrist in February 2021 after a fall in one of her palaces. "The Queen has been treated for a fractured wrist at Danderyd Hospital. Her Majesty has returned to Drottningholm Palace and is well under the circumstances," the Swedish royal family said in a statement.
